If video games based on movies can boost ticket sales (and vice versa) then it only stands to reason that music games could boost album sales, and such is the case of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Ever since its release, sales of the album Inhuman Rampage from DragonForce increased an impressive 126% week-on-week, right after the game rolled out.

One of the songs in the album, "Through the Fire and Flames", is one of the unlockable tracks in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC). And the game hasn't even been released in Europe yet (which by the way they will get on November 23). Slipknot - whose song "Before I Forget" was also featured in the game - also saw an increase in album sales.

Cool, I also heard that Killswitch Engage also had a similar increase in album sales.
