Guitar Hero III breaks US$ 115 million mark in just seven days - Image 1Here's a little update for video gamers going gaga over Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Activision is now reporting that just after seven days of being in North American shelves, the total sales of the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii versions has already surpassed the US$ 115 million mark.

Prior to all this, it has already been reported that demands for Guitar Hero III are overwhelming Activision and that there's a strong possibility the publisher won't be able to come up with enough supplies. Do take note that the sales figure above is only for the console versions in North America alone.

The PC version will be released in a couple of days and the launch in other regions will happen later this month. Despite that, Activision has also mentioned that Guitar Hero III, as of this point, is already the largest software launch in its history. The company's chairman and CEO Robert Kotick had this to say:

Guitar Hero III is the game that everyone is talking about. It is the only video game to make the Toys "R" Us Hot Toy list for 2007 and Toy WishesÂ’ Hot Dozen 2007, which forecast the most popular holiday gifts of the season.

Despite having significantly increased our production capabilities for the holiday, there is still a high likelihood that we will not be able to meet demand for this game on every platform.

Could've beaten Halo

This game probably could've beaten Halo in total sales by Christmas.. if they'd only produced as many copies.. But unfortunately.. their 7 day boom is already over as stock around the world has already depleted almost entirely and of course the next shipment wont be until January or later.. Someone at Activision should be fired over that one... What a blatent oversight.

...

Not as many people line up for this as Halo. So no it couldn't have beaten the opening day sales volume of Halo3. And not sure why you think there wouldn't be more shipments till 2008. There's plenty of time left in the year.

Halo 3 already beaten

Hey, just to let you know, Halo 3 has already lost. Orange Box has more sells, but they did cheat in having one of the best packages ever, and quite a huge fan base. In time, Halo will move on in 7-10 years, Kids will be like "Whats Halo" like what they do with Golden Eye or Perfect Dark. Those were the good old days. what would we do now without the internet to make a game good?
