Guitar Hero 4 - Image 1One of the biggest draws of Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) is the fact that gamers can choose to either sing, play the drums or just rock out on a guitar. It seems that Activision's Guitar Hero 4 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) will be following suit as revealed in some scans proliferating on the internet.

The scans showed off the the new set of drums which are allegedly for the upcoming game. One thing we noticed that wasn't brought up is the possibility that these peripherals might make it to the market with the launch of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii).

If you want to see the scans from Game Informer for yourself, feel free to follow our source link below. Better yet, pick up the latest issue of Game Informer magazine to see the article in full.

Those drums look harder to use. Why are they still calling it Guitar hero? Should probably call it Band Heros haha!

they have the levels as though you're actually playing with cymbals and a highhat BUT I'm NOT buying another $200 in peripherals so the RB drums better be compatible. After the hugely disappointing GH3, this will be a used purchase only IF they have a decent setlist.

On my last QJ GH4 post I said "looks like I'll be getting it" but after seeing this, no way I am. I don't want to spend even more money for game instrument peripherals, why wouldn't they just let me use my RB ones insteading of making it 6 pads!

Given the fact too that Harmonix said they were thinking about a 'create a song' feature in their next major update of RB I most likely won't be getting GH games anymore

I thought the only advantage GH really had over Rock Band was that because you play with the guitar only and the songs aren't required to have vocals or even percussion they could add in some really unique and outlandish tracks. Now they've kinda gotta stick to more conventional rock.

the one thing i thought that was missing fomr the rockband drums was cymbals and a high hat and i got sort of excited whe nthey said they were making there own i was sort of just hoping for a high hat addition but after looking at the pic with the cymbal placement wouldnt you normally hit the high hat with your right hand and the snare with your left with your right hand crossing over your left? and with the way htis looks that wouldnt work

I don't buy EA products and so I dont have Rock Band. I'm also not dumb enough to pay as much for one game as a Nintendo Wii..

I still only want to play Guitar.. so I may not buy this package unless its reasonably priced. I will definitely pick up the disc though. The guitar in GH is WAY better than in RB. I completely raped RB's Expert Mode in 1 go.. Whereas GH3 is still providing a challenge. I just beat "One" on Hard for the first time this past weekend.

If GH4 is under $200 for the complete set, I'll definitely pick it up. Though I will never sing and I doubt I'll ever be any good at drums.

# Err....you are not really PLAYING A GUITAR...OSpazX 2008-05-15 07:11
Do people actually realize this? YOU ARE NOT PLAYING GUITAR. Actually, the drums are much closer to playing a real instrument. In-fact, go back to the best time of music ever, the 80's, and you'll see real drumsets that look very similar to either of these games' drumsets. The guitars.....you do know a real guitar has strings?

My 15 year old son tried GH and RB, and apart from the fun factor of playing with a group of friends, he couldn't stand the games. Oh, he plays real guitar as a hobby that he enjoys. I'm so proud of him. And glad he never bought RB, as that would be too many annoying teenage boys in my house! lol.

Oh, all of this email is meant in a light hearted joshing way. Sending out Pre-Relax pills to any that take offense. I just had to laugh at the previous comment "I still only want to play Guitar" hahahah.
