Greenpeace: Sony still greenest console manufacturer |
Ó
Greenpeace has released the latest version of its Guide to Greener Electronics, the environmental report card for electronics companies. According to their latest grades, Sony's grade improved from last year, and Microsoft's gotten worse. Nintendo's still dragging at last place, but they don't seem to care anyway.
According to their report, Sony got a score of 5.5 (over 10) - up two places for having better product energy efficiency reporting. Microsoft ranked a woeful 2.7 because of bad performance on e-waste. Nintendo scored even more dreadfully, with a solid 0.8, mostly due to a severe lack of information on their environmental policies.
No one got a perfect 10, but the top electronics company on the list is Nokia. Apple scored better this time around with a 4.7, thanks to improved recycling.

I have nightmares of green peace o_O They infest my school weekly and try to "convert" people. and then it gets worst. when I go to buy things at an outdoor mall (games, clothes, etc.), there's green peace people stationed everywhere, most of the time I spent are avoiding getting into conversation with them.... o_O
That's cause Sony is shrinking the dye size of the cell cpu/gpu so it won't take as much power. Just like what Intel and Nvidia is doing :)
1)Xbox has been shrinking its dye sizes for a while.
2)This article is misleading. This article has nothing to do with consoles. This looks at the entire company as a whole. Sony and Microsoft make products other than 360/PS3.
This article IS NOT misleading at all my good sir. It simply states that Sony is the greenest 'console' manufacturer. Yes, the chart looks at the company as a whole but still, the title I believe is self explanatory. Not " Greenest console manufacturer Sony"
smiley me up :)
look at nintendo.... figures cheapo consoles.
i dont see the letters PS3 ANYWHERE in the article or title... do you? so why are you even bringing it up?
Oh ok, so we're too foolish to automatically assume Sony produces PS3s right?
Why did I bring this up? None other than to make a point to Yamagushi because he said this article is misleading.
Also, he said this has NOTHING to do with consoles. So as it is the -" Guide to Greener Electronics " - [electronics] being the title, I think it's safe to say consoles run on electricity and are therefore, yup, electronics.
Yeah they do make more than just those products, but you also notice that including the entire company and Sony's still a hell of a lot greener than MS.
They are creepy, I've seen a few. They're kinda like a cult
Pretty sure Japan considers Greenpeace a terrorist organization. Or they used to anyway.
Never could figure out why anyone cares what Greenpeace says, they care more about saving the environment than saving human beings and human advancement.
die* by the way. Dye is used for coloring things.
