Gradius, Soldier Blade, Dungeon Explorer now available in VC |
Ó
Get your jet packs, pilot suits, and dungeon maps ready. You just might find yourself purchasing some new games by the day's end. Blasting into the Virtual Consoletoday - 9 a.m., Pacific - are three new titles lined up for Wii gamers. It's a jam-packed list of action games. You've got a side-scrolling space shooter from the console eras of yore, an assault fighter shooter in the "Star Soldier" tradition, and an action-RPG multiplayer that has you searching for the Ora Stone. Check out the list:
- Gradius - NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points
- Soldier Blade - TurboGrafx 16, 600, 1 player, Wii Points
- Dungeon Explorer - TurboGrafx 16, 1-5 players, 600 Wii Points
Although not as famous as Gradius, Soldier Blade is still a welcome addition to the VC family. It'll be some strategic item-grabbing and power-up charging for this mission, as with the roll-out of new features like the "Gunbody" option and "Burst Out" system.
As for Dungeon Explorer, we're glad Hudson finally pulled it together. After the game going MIA (in some regions), we're now going to get some 5-player fun. Better brush up on your character type decisions. It's time to check if, after all these years, you're still a Fighter, Thief, Elf, Bard, Knome, Warlock, Witch, or Bishop.

The Virtual Console was hyped so much before it came out and I have to say I am completely disappointed in it. basically every game can be had for free via emulators. Where are the N64 games that I would actually pay for? Super Mario 64 is the only one!!
The Virtual Console is the best idea and is a heck of alot better then what ms and sony put together. VC has all the goldens from the past and near past. Sure N64 only has 1 title right now but all the other systems are close to 10 titles each already! Furthermore, most of the selections on them are wonderful. Virtual Console is a great sucsess and can only get better.
I'm looking forward to downloading these great titles once I get home ^^
I have every SNES, NES, Genesis, and Most mame ROMs on my computer right now as I type this...but you know what, I've still managed to download 6 games on the VC. Why would I pay for games I already have for free you may ask?
It's just not the same, I can't lay on my couch, I can't invite people over to check them out on my computer. It's too crowded and I only have one gamepad, plus, it feels kind of stupid.
Now yes, I could tote my PC into the living room and hook it up to my tv and buy a nice wireless gaming pad or 2 or 5, and kick back like i used to as a kid. But that is impractical and dumb.
Plus it gives me a warm fuzzy knowing i own the games legally. Not to mention when you get games free, you don't have the same kind of dedication and interest in them (espeically when you get 2 or 3 thousand at a time in a torrent like i did).
Long story short, it just isn't the same, although I would like to see some online VC remakes, and maybe some 3rd party puzzle games like some of the things available on xbox live arcade
