Girls, bond with your boyfriends through videogames

There's a recent article in the latest issue of "Women's Health" magazine that talks about one great way for couples to bond. Since this is a gaming blog, you know what we're going to say, right?

Yep. Their advice is for you and your significant other to bond over video games!

While most of the article is filled with double entendres and other sexually suggestive phrases (it's titled, "Grab the Joystick: Toy with your Man in the Virtual World"), they do cite someone who should know about these sorts of things. Susan K. Perry, Ph.D. states that, "Playing video games allows you to bond and learn how to problem-solve as a team." Perry is a Los Angeles-based social psychologist.

The rest of the article suggests some games you guys can both try out, such as Guitar Hero II and Splinter Cell: Double Agent, but there's no mention of any Wiimote fun from relationship-fostering Wii games like Wii Sports at all. Still, lay off the overly addictive qualities of World of Warcraft, play something casual and accessible for the two of you, have fun talks while you're at it, and soon you'll be going out on dates with your PSP in tow, kinda like the lovebirds in this Korean PSP commercial.

» its an old ad.

I found that ad almost two years ago. Never thought I'd see the day when it'd actually be useful for an article though, but i guess life surprises you.

» Heh thats so weird

That Guitar Hero 2 is on that list. My girlfriend was never really a gamer but after I introduced her to Guitar Hero, she went out and got a PS2 just for that game, and of course number 2. Shes obsessed with it now.

We play co op and vs mode together all the time.

» Fascinating but a no-brainer.

Games have been part of enhancing good relationships since forever. So what's the big deal? Give us better news QJ.

» What do you mean dont play WOW?!!!

Whats wrong with playing WOW together?! I suppose ther still are far more men than women playing games like WOW, but we are out there. There are quite a few girls in my guild, many of us long time gamers. I myself have been playing online games since ultima online, (a looong time ago, sigh).

I suppose something like WOW might be a bit hard going for someone who doesnt play games, and games like wii sports are easier to pick up and enjoy (if only i could beat my boyfriend on the bowling game...). But does this mean the guys will join in things the girls do too? I somehow doubt that !!
