Homebrew - Giddy 3 v1.1 - Image 1

Back from the depths of retro gaming is Giddy 3, a 2001 MS-DOS game that Wiibrew dev Xeron ported to the Wii. Here are the game's current features:
  • Over one whole Megabyte of 256 colour graphics, which have been converted into 16,777,216 colour graphics that look exactly the same!!!!!
  • Simultaneous music and sound effects!!!!!!
  • 30-odd puzzles!!!
  • Smooth scrolling on the Nintendo Wii!!!!!
  • Retro type larks!!!!!!!
  • An egg with unfeasibly large hands!!!!!!!
That first one made me lol. Anyway, this is the port's second release, and includes a couple of bug fixes. See?

2001 MS DOS?

This game resembles a game I had on my 286 back in 1992. It was called Fantasy World Dizzy and from memory was a codemasters game. Surprising there were still MSDOS games coming out in 2001, most stuff from for PC from memory at that time was coming out at that time was for windows.

Wow

Not a lot of MS-DOS games with their own Wiki pages. Someone must have loved this game.

Codemasters

Yeah well Codemasters had a lot of respect in the PC world back then. Well across all platforms really... They've always gone for fairly safe formulaic games that are generally exactly as advertised. They've never really gone for that one really expensive to develop game that's an epic story which is what the really big studios seem to do these days. Codemasters approach is probably what has kept them alive for so long. I'd choke if I ever saw Codemasters were going to try and release a Halo or a Killzone cloan.
