GDC 2007: Mario Strikers Charged videos |
Ó
This Next Level Games creation is the latest Mario spin-off title to hit Nintendo's next-gen baby, the Wii. Players are given the option to choose among classic Nintendo characters (Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, even Bowser and Princess Peach, etc.) with each having the ability to perform special shots. These Mega Strikes (the special shot's name) split the iron balls into five balls going towards the goal's direction. This is where the Wii-action takes places with the goalie tries to block the balls via Wiimote.
The title's currently carrying a December 31, 2007 release date for Japan and Europe while it's still on TBA status for US. Not really surprising 'cause Football's considered a religion in those places. In these GDC vids, we're shown Peach p'wning Bowser and Donkey Kong mashing Mario. We're also given a glimpse of how the Wiimote's motion-sensing technology will be utilized in the game. Watch out, turtle shell and iron shrapnels abound.

The soundtrack sounds pretty poor though. I hope I'll be able to play MP3's from the SD card on this title too.
