A few days ago, Games Radar published an article - "Five game characters with one foot in the closet" - naming Kratos from God of War, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, Jimmy Hopkins from Bully, Frank West from Dead Rising and Vaan from Final Fantasy XII as members of the LGBT community. A bunch of you kids might think it's funny but some members of the gay community were offended by it.Starting off is their supposition that Kratos may be gay because he "accidentaly" killed his wife and daughter, which may mean he's got a grudge against women, "or something." Hassan Mirza, Gay.com's news editor told GamesIndustry.biz that this particular suggestion is misinformed. Why would straight men think that gay men hold violent grudges against women, after all?
PinkNews.co.uk retaliates by publishing the offending Games Radar article with the question: "What is the point of "outing" characters? Is this yet another bunch of childish 'str8' boys laughing at gay people?"
Mirza further elaborates that the article's facetious tone, dismissive of an impressionable audience, justifies making jokes about the LGBT community. Another suggestive, and allegedly misinformed comment was about Frank West dressing up in woman's clothes and children's clothes for a bit of "carnal experimentation."
Gays want the gaming community to know that while it's reassuring that gamers actually care about the sexual orientation of their digital superheroes, it's not very reassuring to read that the gamers rely on juvenile stereotypes about the LGBT community.
It'll be very interesting to know what you guys would make of this sort of situation; feel free to comment below.

So say if you are a gay hater, it's only because your friends and possibly family have such an inherant fear of anything they don't understand that personal feelings about minorities become hateful and venemous.
I, to a degree don't like the majority of gay men, I find them mostly to be shallow, fake and incredibly promiscuous. I myself don't sleep around or frequent the throwaway and frankly cheap gay pubs and clubs, all of my friends are straight and I am happier socialising in mixed venues, my partner is the same.
There is good and bad in everyone, there will never be any kind of peace in this world as long as people are people. People just need to understand a little tolerance is all.

When it comes down to it, the ideas of men are always limited and changing. Why? Because we simply have too limited a perspective. Thus, rather than be brainwashed by these foolish notions that will no doubt be exchanged for new equally foolish notions within a decade, I choose to be brainwashed by a higher power: one that has been constant throughout history. So, while I definately don't condone homosexuality, and I would prefer that much of our "progress" in tolerating it be turned back (no gays in the military, no gay teachers, etc.) I believe in a "love the sinner, hate the sin" approach. I work with a few gays, who, though I don't consider them friends, I treat them just as I would anybody else. Does that make me one of your "poor deluded Christian Yanks?"

I'm a fairly intelligent person. I used to be a bit of an intellectual. I'd look at an issue and process it logically and rationally. To some degree this works. Where it breaks down is when you realize that we human beings are ridiculously limited in our capacities for logical analysis.
First, let's assume you've got some insanely high IQ. Let us also assume you've attained a level of discipline so as to be completely unaffected by emotion (love, lust, anger, envy... anything that gets in the way of being rational), unaffected by physical limitations (being tired, hormones, that bad pastrami you had for dinner) and you're just plain an all around rational person. Let's also assume you're well educated; you have an extremely good grasp on the facts of the world around you. I would still put more faith in an uneducated country bumpkin Christian's "reason to live" or what have you, than in your all intelligent, completly rational insight.
Why? First, there's no way you're going to be completely rational. That bad pastrami or your envy of your neighbor or something is going to be affecting your insights. Are you bashing Christians 'cuz your Christian daddy raped your bum?
Second, there is not anybody alive today whose grasp on the facts of the world around him or her is more than dubious.... at best. Most of what you "know" was told to you by someone else (another limited human being). There's simply too much information for you to test everything yourself. Your information is secondhand (from imperfect human beings) making it somewhat unreliable. Also, much of that information is based upon man's "best guess" given the evidence. Remember when man's "best guess" was that the world was flat?
So yeah. Come up with your own reason to live or whatever. I'll put my trust in God for my reason.

As for your burning bush comment, I suppose that I do have to concede that the notion that the entire universe starting from an infinitely small, yet infinitely massive point going "Bang" followed by the formation of planets, stars, galaxies, etc. due to mere chance.... is MUCH more logical than a god who can make a bush appear to burn. I mean, how could he possibly make a bush appear to burn? That's just silly.

An ancient greek philosopher making the exact point that I've been making all along. Quite simply, we are far from perfect, therefore our ideas are going to be far from perfect.
What you apparently see as closed mindedness on my part is actually me being even more open minded. Not only am I willing to learn, but I am also willing to unlearn. I accept that much of what I "know" may turn out to be incorrect. I learn. Then I take what I learn and measure it against my religion. You could say that Christianity is an anchor to keep me from getting lost in the chaos that is "modern thought." No matter how much the world changes around me; no matter how much I learn; there are some things that will always remain true and I will cling to them unceasingly.
If you call that ignorance; if you'd rather be adrift, easily influenced by the world or popular opinion; then you're a fool.

Gay people in general love to make fun of themselves, dont take things to seriously at all but when articles like this appear online it gives more ammo for closed minded individuals to use which isnt good. Again, making a compliant against the article probably wasnt the best move as i can see it was done in gest, a simple bit of fun.
As a gay guy myself I personally dont see the problem with the article, it wasnt offensive in any way, in fact i found it quite funny. Some people read far to much into it and they need to take a breath before passing judgement on it.
And on a side note, with all the crap going on in the world right now with wars, crime, poverty, etc etc, i cant believe people would still be so bigoted against any minority group. EXACTLY MY POINT, and exactly the reason I find organized religion a sham.
Religion was created by humans. Humans who thought they knew how God and the world works. The Bible was written by humans, edited by humans, changed by humans. Therefore, putting your beliefs into that is exactly what you are rallying against above.
Humans don't know any better - so some guys made up some stories that sounded good to them and others, and it makes people feel better to this day to believe that these incredible stories of virgin births, chemical impossibilities (wine into water), and flying carpenters, as the previous poster so eloquently put it.
I find it sad that people are so unhappy with their own lives that they choose to believe a group of stories to make themselves feel whole. I would never say I live a perfect life, but at least I live my life for myself and not based on stories written as propoganda.
There very well may be higher powers; in fact, I believe in them. But anyone that falls for organized religion as "fact" is just retarded, plain and simple. You believe stories written by men were divine, because you cannot come up with your own reason for being alive. It is a crutch, so you don't have to face the realities of mortality and the percieved inconsequence of mortal life.
Or you can believe in fairy tales that tell you if you obey some big man in the sky you will live forever in bliss, and bask in his love. However, if you don't, you will burn in hell. But remember...he still loves you. LOL.

Why would the author of this article think his readers would find it funny? It has a distinctly neanderthal flavour to it. In fact I can't imagine it having very broad appeal. It's almost as if... as if...

For many people it would mean an end to their daily lives as reaching any form of enlightenment would mean letting go of most social habbits - this it is not compatible with current society which has been built out of a monotheistic state. I believe that for humans to "live in harmony" (which they have never done - ever ever ever your Bible is so Full of crap -saying we were happy in Eden) we need to finally understand what personal interpretation of truth is and instill this in out children from birth.
A lie is a lie - for me to tell my child all the names for God and heaven and hell and then try to exlpain the unexplainable may make me feel more comfortable and it may help my child sleep easier but it is a PLAIN LIE.

No, the bible didnt say a man should not lay with a man. It did say a men should not lay with a men that mean you shouldn't have sex with more than 1 man or woman and the Sodom and Gomorrah is not about homosexuality. It is about people who is like porn and dirty and sluts and perverts things like in our present world. Please read it carefully and God didnt say homosexual is wrong. God just said in the bible that men should not lay with a men. Read the word "MEN" not "MAN", understand ? GOOD!

I am baffled - how can my life have changed so quickly?
I had a dream last night and Yeshua came to me:
(Catholics decided his name was wrong so changed it to Jesus so it sounded better in songs)
He appeared to me as a Non-flying Carpenter and declared his name to me.

"Why for many generations, have these people - who seems so concerned about knowing the name for God
and the places of heaven and hell - changed my name?
If all this naming was so important.......nay if all this classification of the unknown was so necesary to these people, why would they decide to change my name?"

When I awoke I laughed out loud at my stupid imagination. But looking to my bedside table - I saw a cross, not an ordinary cross. But a slightly misshapped one made not of Gold as is the Catholic custom, but of splintered wood. The cross was broken in the middle, snapped in two peices. A clean break.
On the cross was the word "Yeshua"
I have taken this cross to my ex-girlfriends mother who was a archeologist.
She laughed at me and told me I was on drugs, almost threatened to call the police when I got excited.
No one will believe me, or even take the time to review my evidence of epiphany.
I am now saving up to visit first Jerusalem and then the Vatican.
