GameTrailers unveils StreamStats - Image 1In recent news, GameTrailers recently unveiled StreamStats. In a nutshell, StreamStats provides statistics on the number of views videos, game pages, and movies. In addition, it also gives information such as searches and even referrals. The program was designed to help members of the game industry see and analyze the amount of traffic generated by videos shown on GameTrailers.com.

Jon Slusser, CEO and Executive Producer of GameTrailers, spoke about their newest product. "StreamStats is an incredibly valuable tool that will serve the videogame industry." He also added that "users will find StreamStats beneficial in gauging interest surrounding upcoming titles, as well as the overall effectiveness of specific pieces of media and videos."

StreamStats' features are geared towards industry professionals with "a free, user-friendly service that allows them to create and customize relevant information about user behavior". The following lists the specific uses of StreamStats:
  • Product managers and PR teams can use StreamStats to help gauge the effectiveness of a trailer launch, as well as overall game performance against other competing titles in their launch window. In addition, publishers can graphically track the progress of each title in order to see how milestones such as trailer launches or advertising campaigns affect the overall awareness of their games.
  • StreamStats can provide retailers, marketers, analysts and reporters a macro-view of the industry to see what games consumers are most interested in over a given period of time, or a detailed micro-view of a particular title
Brad Winters, the Director of Marketing and Business Development for GameTrailers, said that “as the traffic and usage of GT continues to grow, we have amassed vast amounts of information in our database about the viewing habits of our users,” He concluded by saying that “StreamStats is our way of sharing this information with our partners and the industry at large.” Whether or not StreamStats will become a benchmark in the future depends on how well the new software is accepted by the media and gaming companies.
