GameStop and EB Games Pre-Order Clarifications

Pre-OrderYesterday, we ran a rumor about how GameStop and EB Games were thinking of changing their pre-order policy so you had to trade in $50 worth of games as a deposit. Anyway, a couple of these issues have been looked into and the true story is out. The rumor we ran yesterday is both true and untrue.

The trade-in thing is only happening in Hawaii and Guam as of now. They're doing a test run in the region to see how it goes. If you live in those two regions, you can pre-order your Wii and PS3 starting Monday by trading in a bunch of your games. If you do not want to contribute to this corporate tactic, then don't go.

If you want a PlayStation 3 or Wii and don't live in those regions, you will not be able to pre-order until the stores find out exactly how many units they will be receiving. Hawaii and Guam may have a "normal" pre-order campaign where you put down cash later on, but that is not confirmed.

» Yeah well...

To bad they might play your new console some days be4 you get it. And your pre ordered game/games.

There allowed even with ppls pre orders I think. If I am wrong then someoen tell me but I do know they play games be4 they come out and after words and same with consoles? Or just the ones displayed in there store.

But yeah they will sell you a re-wrapped used game brand new when it first comes out and after words, lol.

My mom works at a Movie Gallary and they are doing a promotion on November 10th for a draw for a PS3 and The CEO of MG talked to Sonys PR guy and he got the release date for it. The release date is november 17th.

#1 Are you retarded? why should they even do that? Do you work for them or something? Thats only a way so they dont lose all their profits from preordering.

I live in Hawaii, and I just passed by my local gamestop today, and that flyer was there. Well I'm going to start looting my closet looking for games to trade in, damn I need $100 since I plan on getting both a ps3 and wii.

» This Is All A Lie

First off I broought the article in question to my distict manager over the north alabama region of gamestop and he called his higher ups to find out if this was true. When I heard back from him he proved all of the information false and said that I do not know who this person is but they are mistaken and need to pay close attention to company emails and

think before he speaks because all of the information about the preorder is false except for the information on limited preorders for each store.

I am truly sorry to all of you who were bothered by this but many of the higher distict managers are calling this false.

sincerely,

William

I can confirm that this is NOT a lie. Gamestops in Hawai'i are doing this and does start tomorrow. Bring in any used game or accessory worth $50 in trade in value and it can be used for a preorder for PS3 or Wii.

I can ask a friend in Guam if their stores are doing it also.
