For the guys looking for good news regarding the Nintendo Wii's online multiplayer gaming, this may be it. GameSpy Industries, an online games service under IGN Entertainment, has just announced that in line with its ongoing partnership with Nintendo, it will now be providing its multiplayer technology for game publishers developing titles for the Wii.As for what this means in layman's terms: Imagine Xbox Live-style features cropping up on your future Wii console bouts, such as friend rosters, advanced matchmaking capabilities, and comprehensive rankings data.
All these mean that in the near future, players can look forward to a much broader selection of online-capable Wii games soon, aside from the Pokemon Battle Revolution (which is slated for June 25 - anything but close). Imagine online Wiimote play with Wii Sports, DBZ Budokai, or - dare we say it - Bleach - and you can guess why quite a lot of us are getting mighty excited with this prospect.
"This partnership will expand our wireless community of players on Nintendo WiFi Connection," Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime regarding the announcement. "Millions of Nintendo DS users have already logged on using GameSpyÂ’s technology, and now Wii owners will be able to do the same in a fun and easy-to-use environment."
