Florida library hosts Nintendo Wii to encourage visitors to read |
Ó
A library in Cape Coral, Florida has recently installed Nintendo Wiis within its premises for the purpose of encouraging library visitors to read books when they're not playing.
This is how its supposed to work: while the Nintendo Wiis are meant to lure kids to the library, library workers are hoping that the visitors will pick up books and read them before after playing.
As such, the library has included Nintendo Wii games that promote, physical activity, team work, analytical and strategic skills, and of course, reading. The library staff members also plan to use the Nintendo Wiis for organized weekend events.
Admittedly, this isn't the first time that libraries have included video games on their shelves. While it's an interesting strategy, it was unclear as to how the library staff would limit or monitor the kids' gameplay time in order for the visitors to have time for actual reading.
