Five Wii gun games that have to be made

The Wii gun is one of the most highly anticipated peripherals today. However, a lot of people are wondering what games they will be able to play with the said peripheral. Nintendo's been keeping this thing under wraps for now stating that their E3 showing was a prototype and that they are not announcing further details as of yet. What do the guys at Nintendo have in store for us? Quite frankly, there are quite a few games that we believe would be great with the Nintendo Wii blaster.

A lot of gamers from the NES days have very fond memories of the NES Light Gun. Games such as Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley definitely deserve a remake. Countless electronic ducks, clay pigeons, and cardboard cut-outs have been shot for the amusement of the players. There were no complicated storylines or 3D graphics to drive the game, it was pure gaming goodness at its best.

Of course, we don't deny that better graphics or additional options would hurt the games. We just believe that shooting games to be developed for the Wii should keep in mind that gameplay comes first. With that in mind, we would like to present some suggestions on what games should be released in conjunction with Nintendo's Wii Gun.

Duck Hunt - Image 1

On the top of the list would be a remake of Duck Hunt. We don't mean just the simple one duck-two duck-clay shooting modes of the original game with better graphics. We want to see ducks which actually fight back by flying towards you occasionally to  mess up your view. The clay shooting bits can also be improved upon with additional mini game modes like the maybe "can juggling" where you can bounce a can by shooting at it. As a final note, it might be a good idea to make the dog less annoying than the original one.

Hogan's Alley - Image 1

Another game that has to be remade is Hogan's Alley. This arcade game which was ported on the NES deserves some props for introducing the trick shot and the whole look before you shoot concept in early light gun games. The Wii version however, should be based on the FBI's Hogan Alley in Quantico, Viginia. Gamers can actually learn real firearms skills and defensive tactics that the FBI uses. While this may scare certain individuals who might brand this game a murder simulator, the game should also teach proper and responsible gun handling. After all, not all gamers are young teenage kids right?

Silent Scope Banner - Image 1

A version of Konami's Silent Scope for the Wii would be nice to see as well. Just imaging this gives us goosebumps. Players would probably be using the couch as a rest for their hands to keep it steady as they snipe the generic bad guys from the roof or other areas. With the commercial success of the game in the arcades, it should be safe to assume that this one will be making money for Konami.

Ghostbusters Banner - Image 1

It would also be awesome to see a game based on the Ghostbusters. Come on, it would be perfect! You can point the proton pack beams at the ghosts and use the nunchuck with your other hand to throw the trap. While we're at it, it would great if you can get four player multiplayer games going, where each player gets to control one of the four Ghostbusters. You can even have variations on the game where one player will be steering the Ecto-1 while the other three would be busy blasting at the ghosts chasing them.

The House of the Dead Banner - Image 1

Finally, it would simply be unfair to zombie fans everywhere if we didn't include a House of the Dead game for the Wii. Instead of your character automatically moving through pre defined points, the players will have to move the nunchuck and light gun up and down (simulating running) to move through the hallways. Of course, hordes of zombies and other creepy crawlies will be popping up forcing you to stop and shoot lest you get bitten.

While a lot of people consider the Wii to primarily appeal to the young or elderly gamers in the market, there is still a slew of middle-aged people who also enjoy playing the Wii. Would it hurt Nintendo and other manufacturers to throw these guys (well, us included) a bone and publish some games which would appeal to the hardcore gamer? Granted, gun games have really been taking flak from certain individuals, but mentally stable gamers who generally enjoy shooting games are being denied the opportunity to do so.
