Final Fantasy V is coming to Virtual Console

ffv_vcNew year coming up, but Wii owners might want to go retro in 2011. Square Enix sends word that Final Fantasy V will be re-released on Virtual Console next year, so that's one more classic FF title in the platform.

 

In case you need a little refreshing, Final Fantasy V is the lovable grindfest where you master multiple jobs and mix various items. Since V-Con releases are pretty much unaltered, you should still be able to use your old tricks here.

 

In Japan, the game has been set for a January 2011 release, while there's no word for Europe and North America. The download will be priced at 800 Wii Points, or US$ 8.

this was one of my favorites. about the only thing i hated about it is the poorly-named final boss :D

You need to make it clear that there will be NO english release of this. People are not able to look at things realistically by themselves. They are not going to translate a full RPG just for a puny VC release.

Agree with Glenn. 4 and 6 get all the retro love, but 5 is every bit as good. Love the job system, which leaves much more room for replay value than some of the others with locked-in classes.

I highly doubt it coming overseas, as FFV was a japan only release with the SNES, and since it IS the virtual console...

but we got the gba version that means that it's already translated into eanglish soo they can just use that ranslation

I highly doubt that this would be ported overseas. In theory Nintendo could take the GBA translation and truncate spell/item names because of space limitations, but SE could just as easily slap on the PSX translation and call it a day. Still, It's probably not viable to invest resources to translate a game that will likely tank on the VC; people have been playing FFV for free for at least ten years, and have two versions that can be bought for around $10. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see FFV on my Wii, but I don't think it's ever going to materialize outside Japan.
