Fils-Aime talks about Ninty's paradigm shift at the Montreal International Game Summit

Reggie Fils-Aime"Everyone loves a game, so why isnÂ’t everyone playing videogames?"

This was asked by Nintendo of America head honcho, Reggie Fils-Aime during his keynote speech at the Montreal International Game Summit.

Yep, way back in June we were wondering what exactly will Fils-Aime say in the said game summit. Well, we finally got the answer, probably best encapsulated in the question mentioned above.

Basically, Fils-Aime said that Nintendo's aiming to expand the market, by making video games feasible to people alienated as, "non-gamers".

And he believes that the said paradigm shift will start when the Wii finally launches in a couple of days:

We believe this will lead to the future of this industry. We are not a traditional art form. We are something different. [WeÂ’ll move] beyond the pure visual appeal, looking at what you can do with the interface, looking at what you can do with controllers. This move] will happen the week after next with the launch of the Wii.

Bold as that move may be, we're hoping that Nintendo will indeed succeed in their endeavor. It would be great if the barriers between "gamers" and "non-gamers" will be removed, and everybody'll just appreciate gaming for what it really is (and that includes you, Jack Thompson).
