Fils-Aime takes home Grand Marketer of the Year award - Image 1How does the title "Grand Marketer of the Year" sound to you? Well, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has just been handed the award by weekly marketing trade publication Brandweek. The latest issue of the magazine ran 10 success stories all in all and the out-spoken Nintendo official ended on the top spot.

This really is interesting because it happened in the midst of an impending Wii supply shortage for the holiday season. The said magazine described Fils-Aime as someone who is flamboyant and loves to smack talk but gets the job done.

Brandweek added that he (Fils-Aime) "preached the gospel of gaming and converted moms and the elderly into Wii addicts." Other personalities who received the award in the previous years include Jim Stengel (Global CMO of Procter & Gamble) and Jim Farley (Toyota Motor Sales VP of Marketing).

He must be good!

You would have to be a master of marketing to sell so many modified Gamecubes, which did horribly last generation! He faked the entire shortage to make the Wii seem like a must have toy everyone wants to buy (everyone knows there's no real reason for the supposed shortage.) He knew the $250 ripoff pricing ($100 over the real system value) would make it seem just as good as the competition to ignorant parents and young kids. Including Wii Sports (which probably cost about $5,000 to develop) seems to add extra value but doesn't because it sucks! He knew stopping the release of pending Gamecube games and releasing them on the Wii instead would get even more sales. Great job Reggie! Stupid people everywhere are waiting in line to overpay for your overhyped, underperforming system! I wonder what his plan will be when this hype wears off and he can't play off the "supply problems" anymore. Will 20 different first party Mario games keep people interested? How about 50 different last gen PS2 ports? Of course not, he will need to think of a brilliant plan to keep people buying an overpriced system I always hear about owners never using after owning for a few months.

Real intelligent arguments!?!

Yeah right... He faked the entire shortage to make the Wii seem like a must have toy everyone wants to buy (everyone knows there's no real reason for the supposed shortage.) How about being the fastest selling console in the history of Video games? Selling 4 times more than the PS3 in Japan, and twice as fast as the Xbox360 did. He knew the $250 ripoff pricing ($100 over the real system value) would make it seem just as good as the competition to ignorant parents and young kids. Including Wii Sports (which probably cost about $5,000 to develop) seems to add extra value but doesn't because it sucks! Is the console worth that price? Hell yeah! You know that a Monster HDMI câble costs about 2.5$ to produce, it is sold about 12$ to the store and they sell it 150$ to you? AAA batteries costs aboput 0.28$ to produced and they sells at 8$ for 4. You would have to be a master of marketing to sell so many modified Gamecubes, which did horribly last generation! Yeah, they actually found what is fun in the console. The Wii is actually one of a kind console that had lots of work in its development. Oh wait didn't they do that with the Xbox... didn't they do that with cars...tvs...videos... dvd players....computers....OS.... Actually, you just succeded in showing how stupid you are because you can't even look at facts and offer an objective view before posting YOUR opinion as ABSOLUTE truth. You know like that Ben Laden guy saying Americans are Evil. Next time, bring some valid arguments ok. We've got enough of pointless thought of frustrated people who think they are better than the World.
