Fighting words: Fils-Aime makes PS3 shooting joke |
Ó
Them's some fighting words over at Nintendo's camp. According to the video interview, the folks who shot Spike TV's Game Head segments managed to catch Reggie Fils-Aime making a rather pointed attack on the PS3.In relation to the PS3's current spate of negative media attention and the long lines for PS3's opening days, Reggie made a pass towards the spate of PlayStation 3-related shootings and violence. As caught on camera, Fils-Aime said, "Were those the people ducking to not get shot or...? I'm just not sure."
In contrast to those statements, Phil Harrison focused more on how many people were satisfied with their purchase because they bought a PS3 and were entertained by it. Said Harrison,
We are creating technology that empowers entertainment for people. And ultimately, it's the people who spend their money, who buy the machine, who love the machine, who have a tremendous relationship with that machine...
In any event, here's the fourth segment of Game Head's DICE episode, where the offending bits are clearly heard.

You're probably just angry that your console is weaker than an Xbox 360 yet cost $200 more and is in last place. PS3 games are all outclasses by God of War II which looks much better than your crappy PS3 games including MGS4. Also all of PS3's games look like poo in-game. Yay.

If that doesn't convince you then, look at it this way. Penn Jillette, of Penn + Teller, has a father whose friend has a really great sense of humor. One day, the two of them met up with another friend who is an officer and since they didn't have anything better to do, they have a chat with him all while walking around town. Eventually though, The cop comes across someone that had violated traffic. Now as he is writing the ticket, said father's friend has this really sly grin on his face and Penn's father is just laughing and shaking his head even before a single word escapes his friend's mouth. He whispers in his father's ear, "I just got a great idea for a prank! Wouldn't it be funny if I snuck up on him, took his gun and played around with it?" Penn's father doesn't say a thing. Instead, he silently nods and tries to stifles his laughter at what's about to happen. So his friend proceeds with his stupid plan, and I mean dangerously stupid. He places care into every single one of his steps, sneaking up on this unsuspecting officer buddy of theirs, slowly reaches for the gun inch by inch, and creeping oh so close to his hilarious destination. That's when the cop turns around and fires a round into his friend's stomach +D. But get this, we haven't gotten to the great part yet. He's in the hospital, in intensive care and under a coma for a little over a month and everybody was visiting him that day: Penn Jillette, his father, and the officer. You might not believe what happens next. He wakes up out of his coma laughing! Hahahaha! Every single person in that room was cracking up to the point of stitches for about an hour. After things settled down he points enthusiasticall y to the cop, "Oh! You got me! You got me good!" And from that moment on, that's the kind of person Penn Jillette wants to be when he grows up. Someone that can shrug off something as seemingly big and serious as a gunshot wound to the stomach and turn that around into something you can fondly remember later on. This incident has not only influenced himself but his career as seen in Penn + Teller dark comedic approach to magic acts.
And if you don't believe me, he told this story on a radio show which you can also hear on podcast for free through iTunes or http://www.pennradio.com (I forget which one though but I think it's within the past month or so)

But when M$ or Sony makes fun of anyone, they look like f*ckin idiots.
Nice double standards you have there, oh followers of the church of Nintendo.
