FIFA 08 video interview

More info abound the latest installment of the critically-acclaimed FIFA series - FIFA 08 - in this video interview, and this time it's about the Wii version of the game. We give you the skinny on what's to expect with the upcoming soccer game that boasts to take full advantage of the Nintendo Wii's unique control system.

What's interesting with FIFA 08 on the Wii, besides that it's the first FIFA game on the console, is the challenge that the developers themselves had to overcome while mapping out the controls. After all, Soccer's played mainly with the feet and with the Wiimote relying pretty much on hand movement, the connection was hard to make.

But they were able to and they're pretty proud of what they managed to come up with. The Nunchuck attachment, utilized in conjunction with the Wiimote, will be used as a D-pad of sorts to control body movement and direction - while actions like kicking, passing or lobbing, generally offensive or defensive actions with the ball, is left to the Wiimote. Definitely sounds easy enough.

There will also be actions that you'll be doing with both peripherals at hand too. For example, a simple throw in, where a player has to use both hands to throw the ball back into play. You'll be doing the exact same movements with the Nunchuck and the Wiimote, giving an added touch of realism to the game. Sweet!

Even though the game itself is going to be based on current-gen technology, it's good to know that they're going the extra mile to make sure the Wiimote's handled well in Electronic Arts' FIFA 08. Updates as we get them - in the meantime, enjoy the video!
