Fatal Frame 4 - Image 1

I'm among those who were pissed off that Nintendo decided not to release Fatal Frame 4 outside Japan. If you feel the same way I do, you might be interested in knowing that some hardcore Fatal Frame fans have taken it into their hands to bring the game to English-speaking gamers.

As Destructoid reports, a fan translation project for the Tecmo horror survival Wii game is now underway. The translation is still less than halfway done (45% as of this writing), but it's definitely a bright spot for series fans who have homebrew-capable Wiis and the money to import the game.

There are a number of game translation groups out there that provides the service. Although it is very few because of:

- group only translates what they like (requests are never applicable)

- translating requires reverse engineering the game which takes a very long time to do, and sometimes being given c+d order by development companies.

- the titles these group translate only attract small partition of gamers.

- many of them do not get donations. Money is an issue because projects of these types are time consuming.

- and more.

But you gotta give kudos to these groups as they do a pretty good job.

Also, if you really want to play Japanese games, but can't read Kanji, Google out script translations. There are a number out there for the game of your choice.

What I meant is seeing more fan translation of Wii games using this method. Most of the fan translations are of older games, which is nice. But imagine if this way became the method of choice for most games. You could finally use an official copy instead of having to download an ISO or ROM.
