Fanart Department : Wii, Why Not? |
Ó

Probably tired of waiting for Nintendo's ad blitz (if there is such a forthcoming ad campaign), one Spanish Wii fan decided to do something about it. He created his own. The Wii Why Not ad does stop the eyes dead in their tracks with its almost monochromatic look and just a hint of color that simulate a smile.
It's not the first faux ad fanart, though. A few days ago one official Wii promo turned to be another well-crafted fanart. And even before that, scans of supposedly Wii ads found in a German magazine surfaced. With all the unofficial Wii ads coming out we wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo decides not to put out its own.

Too bad he has no bloody idea how to pronounce 'wii', despite the fact that if he pronounced it as a hispanic would in spanish, it'd be right.
i dont like pronouncing it as "wii" (we) i pronounce it "why"
I know what spanish mean, I'm from Spain, and Spain is part of Europe, it's just between France and Portugal, for those that still think that spanish people come from Mexico :)
Well, all I wanted to say if that I've been in the Fickr page where the ad came from and all I've seen is potuguese, so I'd say the guy is from Portugal, not Spain...
BTW, in Spain we say "wii" as in "we".
Regards.
I just checked the author's profile and it seems he is from Brazil, so yes, it was portuguese, but from America.
Regards.
Well, the 'news report' said he was 'Spanish'... Shame on me for believing QJ.
At any rate, if you're going to make ads for something, you really should pronounce it as the company does, especially when they went out of their way to explain the name and how to say it.
this kind of "fake ad" is gay, I mean, one guy had to be "extreme fanboy" and surely had NOTHING to do for a looooong timebefore making this...
OH, and I say wii(we), wtf man, some fear words? :S it's not like revolution was a better name after some time to think about it.
To me, the "Why not?" part of the ad implies that 'Wii' is pronounced as 'why' which isn't. It just comes to show people are facinated with this system... I'm guilty. :-P.
... this is an ok piece of work... sure... but tell me....
Why would nintendo ever want to promote the wii with a classic controller when the Wii's very reason for existing is to bring new forms of control?
Totally flawed in concept.
Nintendo's currently strategy of showing people useing the Wiimote is the right one - people need to see that you do different things with the Wii - a picture of a controller doesn't preach to anyone but the game fans... and they didn't buy into nintendo last time around.
Take it from a marketing exec, nintendo are on a very well chosen path with their existing Wii campaign.
