Fan-made Wiimote advert displays true Jedi mastery of the Force

Okay, so moving eggs around in a white room was cool. Slamming those eggs into the wall to make crows/raven's magically materialize is also a nice trick, but it still smells of un-experienced padawan. In the off-chance you're wondering what a true "master of the Force" can do, check out this fan-made Wiimote advert below. Warning: has a few droplets of blood, but it's nothing we can't handle.

No crying babies, exploding cubes, or mutated flowers here, just plain mastery of the Force. Oh, and be sure to use those straps, just so that you don't fall into the dark-side.

Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? And well you should not. For my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it. Makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us, and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Here between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere. Yes, even between the land and the ship.

-Yoda

Was this done by the same guy who did the Revolution helmet commercial for Nintendo? Well, it wasn't an official commercial, as you might recall...but it sure convinced a lot of people for a while.

So....is it him?

awesome commercial, i relei think nintendo should consider adopting it, haha, but they might get sued by PS3 from kinda copying the ideas.

# shame it can't do graphics as good as that...Guest 2006-12-03 09:40
very nice, this reminds me of the old "revolution hype", with awesome fanmade ***** like that...

Though it's a damn shame...

As a Wii developer myself, Wii is graphically less advanced than Xbox 1, in terms of shaders on the GPU itself. What I've seen so far is behind what Xbox 1 was capable of. Hollywood is basically a die shrink-job clocked about 50% higher, but they haven't advanced it much in terms of shader support.

I really doubt we'll see this thing go above Xbox in terms of shaders and rich, beautiful detail. This is a time when 3D graphics are finally starting to blossom, as a result 360 and PS3 are far more tempting platforms to develop on. Despite high appraisals for industry veterans, I've spoken to many lead desisgners who are not interested at all in developing for this thing because of its *****ty spec.

...but the avalanche of support and capital flooding Nintendo due to the Wii has my BS sensor off the charts at such a ridiculous comment such as, "I've spoken to many lead [designers] who are not interested at all in developing for this thing because of its *****ty spec."

The only *****ty thing around here is your attempt to impress us with your dubious inside status.

I like it especailly considering that every PS3 fanboy can only comment on the Wii's graphics negatively, it's what they do because it's the only thing you can REALLY knock the Wii for.

Besides it show that the Wii is the TRUE holder of FULL motion sensing, not just tilting and shaking like PS3. It also shows the Wii controller does more. Realize that the Wii has more functionality in the analog (nunchuck) alone than the PS3's 6 assess of control controller. If Sony wants to gloat about graphics, that's fine but leave the real motion sensing up to Wii. Wii was built for it, it wasn't just some after tac-on (Sony).

Actually alot of developers want to develop for the Wii because of it's low development cost!!!

Futhermore I think your not a real developer. AKA you lying! Your nothing more than a graphical nazi-fan, using the good name of developing to sway people away from what Wii is about control and gameplay. If you want people to believe you don't stratch the truth by saying your a developer. Just say i'm graphic nazi and people will be more understanding, OK! Let this go out to ALL GRAPHIC WHORE and NAZIS "People who have the Wii, want the Wii, or who are just intrested in the Wii know it doesn't have 360/PS3 quality graphics, they also know the PS3/360 analog control schemes have become dull and boring and are limiting what thier characters can do. Besides how many times do we have to prove over and over graphics don't guarantee a good game. Do you realize analog controller is what I used to beat the first Tomb Raider, or Mario 64 10yrs ago! Analog controlers should be dead.

# Too Many Fanboys, not enough AppreciatorsGuest 2006-12-03 15:46
That was a pretty damn cool fan-spot. Gotta admit, good use of pop-culture.

As for all of you fanboys, quit it. There is nothing more annoying than listening to a bunch of 12 year old cry babies whine about how the "PS3 roxzorz your sox off because its super sweet graphix."

Each system is unique in its own right, purchase accordingly.

As for Van Von: lay off. Wise advice not to fix what isn't broken. The analong control scheme works great, and is very intuitive in terms of three axis movement. Since we are moving through a fourth dimension in videogames, we worry not about anything more.

Granted, the Wii has a great idea with the enitre Motion Sensor thing, and I am excited to play the damn thing. But one thing Nintendo has been is innovative, and I expect nothing less from them.

In due time however, I can guarantee that the Wii will have games that look just as good as PS3 games will. It isn't always about the sheer amount of impressive hardware you can put into the blackboxes of gaming systems, its what tricks the developers can pull to make things look better than they really are.

Want to know what I mean? Take a look at some second gen 360 games, and compare them with first gen 360 games. You should notice quite a bit of improvement. Hell, take a look at late gen Xbox games, and compare them with 1st gen 360 games. You will notice little if any difference.

Analog controllers fine you say! I guess cars never really needed features like power steering, or cruise control accourding to you. What good is it to have a game like Gears of War w/ all it's mighty realizm but your still button mashing to get through it, how realistic is that? Shouldn't controls be more now? It's nearly 2007 and we are still mashing buttons. That doesn't sound right to me. PS3 controller inivative? So that why every wife, grandparent, parent, and girlfriends all won't come within 30ft of an analog controller? Do understand your talking from a hard core gamers standpoint! To the vast majority of the world the analog is NOT intuitive! That why alot people who used to play don't anymore. Lastly understand that I do wish that all poeple just love games in general, but that's not true is it? As a person who has a Wii and is actually eyeing the 360, I'm tired of hearing people shoot the Wii's graphics down. The graphics aren't that bad espeially for 1st gen games, just like 360's 1st geners. However I flat out dislike Sony. The have merely try to recopy the best traites of thier competitors, make over-hyped unneeded techology, over charging at every turn, all while have thier noses in the air. That's why most of thier exclusive slipped to 360 making PS3 a overpriced-hype useless option. In the end Sony has become the Nike of the gaming industry...reaching a piont where all the selling is the name. Hell they made a limited edition PS3 shoe w/ Nike, seriously!!! Look it up! Prove my piont. Besides as gaming goes on controllers more like the Wii's will be needed. I mean who's playing Gears of War or Twigh-Light Princess w/Sega genesis controller?

Was the egg thing sony's commercial and Nintendo just wanted show everyone that their controller was more advanced?

I liked sony's commercial, the birds reminded me of Resident Evil.

I have both systems btw, and they both have their own advantages.

# Really Really, Van Von.Guest 2006-12-05 12:51
I never said the PS3 had an innovative controller. I simply mentioned that the analog controller scheme works great for what it is intended to do, and it is intuitive to the average gamer. Two sticks control three directional movement.

As for the Wii, I have yet to play it, and I can't wait to play it. One of my buddies is getting one soon here, and as soon as he does, its going to be a madhouse. The controller itself is also intuitive (or seems like it.) considering that it basically reads what you are doing, and translates that to the game. Want to bowl? Throw the ball!

As for the PS3, calling it over hyped might be a little to far. All that technology, and $600 can go a long ways. Given a little time, I can guarantee the PS3 can crank out some mad games. Just wait.

The 360 excels in its Online service. Its second to none, simply because there are no other services really. But it is great for the people that use it.

I am not shooting down the Wii's graphics either. Graphics are relative anyway, since a developer can tweak the engine they are using to make things looker better than they really are.
