Nintendo's Wii and Sony's Playstation 3 are two of the most-awaited game consoles that have been sending players and game enthusiasts alike on constant lookouts for the release dates of the said consoles. For Nintendo Wii, the predicted date is tacked at November 3, while the PS3 has been announced to hit Japan by November 11 and North America by November 17 of this year.
Before these launch dates come around however, Hirokazu Hamamura, president of the Enterbrain publishing house which also publishes the popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, has already set up a sales forecast in for both the Wii and the PlayStation3 in Japan. Hamamura calculates that the Nintendo Wii will sell in millions within the next five years because of its attractive price of, at most, 20,000 Yen (euro 133/USD 170). For the Sony PS3, however, Hamamura forecasts slow sales with only 500,00 consoles selling themselves rapidly after the initial release, and then slowing down afterwards. Within the next ten years, he also predicts that the PS3 would only sell around 15 million, even with the addition of the Blu-ray feature to the console.
Whether these predictions are on the money or not will remain to be seen when these consoles are finally released to the public.
