EA, Spielberg announce details of Boom Blox puzzle game for Wii |
Making the transition from silver screen director to video game developer, Steven Spielberg talks about the new video game title he has planned for the Wii.
Entitled Boom Blox, this highly creative game developed in collaboration with Electronic Arts sets the stage for its unique and brain-twisting challenges. The concept is quite simple: the objective in each puzzle is to knock a structure made of blocks over so that everything falls flat.
While the idea is rather simple, the innovative way how the game was designed allows for limitless possibilities on the building of various stages to how the each player decides to conquer the various puzzles utilizing the tools at hand.
Spielberg wanted to create a game which he can enjoy with his kids. The game makes use of a realistic physics model which sets an atmosphere that kids can enjoy with its simplistic approach, while adults can pore over the intricate details of the game's physics.
When asked where he got his inspiration to make such an innovative game, this was what he had to say:
My inspiration for this game came while I was playing the Wii for the first time. From the initial concept to what the game is today, itÂ’s always been built around the innovations the Wii brings to playing games. Boom Blox plays on the enjoyment of building and knocking down blocks, something that can appeal innately to kids and adults of all ages.
The game will also be made available for mobile phones, an extension to the title's fun and interactive experience by sharing it with friends who also want to play it on the go. Boom Blox ships out this May for the Wii, with its mobile phone version widely available this Spring.
Anyway, here are some of the screenshot assets taken from the game.
