EA logoAccording to a new study conducted by British trade organization ELSPA and Chart-Track, Electronic Arts still remains on the top rank as "the best performing video game publisher in the UK" during 2006.

Chart-Track representatives say that the data they gathered showed that EA's sales figures (in terms of revenues and units sold) accounted for 19.8 percent of all video game sales in the previous year. This is actually a slight drop in the company's sales already because back in 2005, the same study showed that EA was responsible for 20.1 percent of sales.

EA's dominance in the charts is accredited to the revenues raked in during the holidays by the release of FIFA 07, Need For Speed, and The Sims. Most of the other company rankers remained on the same slots except for Activision, which fell from second place to eighth. 2006 proved to be a good year for THQ too as the company moved up to snag the second rank. However, it wasn't such a good year for the SCi-owned Eidos which ironically enough, was the only British publisher to appear on the UK charts.

Here's the full list of publishing companies who made it to the top ten ranks:
  1. Electronic Arts
  2. THQ
  3. Ubisoft
  4. Nintendo
  5. Microsoft
  6. Sony
  7. Take-Two
  8. Activision
  9. Sega
  10. Eidos
