EA claims victory in FIFA vs. PES wars, ready for next season |

Electronic Arts, holder of the FIFA franchise across multiple platforms, recently claimed victory over Konami in their annual duke-out pitting FIFA titles against those of Pro Evolution Soccer. FIFA 08 (for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) is Electronic Arts newest title in the franchise and will go head to head against Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 7 next season.
Dan Holman, marketing manager of EA, told MCV, "I'm happy to say that we're comfortably on top in the whole FIFA vs Pro Evolution Soccer battle." He added that the market share has been increasing over the past three years, which suggests that more and more gamers are turning toward the FIFA brand.
"We've sold 1.7 million copies of the last FIFA and Pro Evo is lagging behind on just over a million," said Holman. He also mentioned that EA will be able to bring more people to rally behind the FIFA name, including football fans of the non-gaming persuasion.

I've been an addicted to the Fifa Saga until last 3 years, in wich PES has been definately way better than Fifa in gameplay. So let me dount about the pont... maybe they sold more copies, but Konami's release is way better than EA's
Fifa is no match for PES... EA is probably "forgetting" to count sales outside the US
You are completely right Mauaus FIFA is no match for PES, and you are right they might not be counting sales outside of the U.S specially Europe. Fifa will never have the gameplay PES offers. PES feels natural more like soccer. Fifa has all those licenses and their comments are great, but when it comes to gameplay, feels like you are playing a soccer indoor match, you can finish a 10 min soccer match with 10 goals, but when playing PES you can finish it 1-0, heck you can even finish with a 0-0 match which is more satisfactory than a 10-5 match. In a few words: FIFA = WWE Wrestling (Fantasy) PES = UFC (Realism)

Winning Eleven = PES in the US and Japan... Fifa's not good but PES6 is only an hd version of PES5 with worse referee AI and awful defense... Looking forward to the 7 though ;)
