WiiWhile speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, EA's very own David Gardner spilled some juicy beans upon the journalist's laps. He believes that the Wii will retail in the US for 170$. Many may be thinking to themselves - I don't think he believes this, or more likely - That's an odd number! This is what the VP and COO of EA's worldwide studios said in the interview - "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet." He also believes that Nintendo's marketing strategy is perfect and will definitely work in favor of them. Still going strong on the 2nd console approach, this has fueled his opinion and many other Nintendo fans.

If you are a person like me - anxiously awaiting the launch date (which has yet to be reveleaed), then you will definetly cheer at this opinion from David Gardner. He speculated a price of 170$ which would allow us to purchase many games along with the console. If you are rich enough, you could even purchase all 27 launch titles with the console! With the Wii's launchup with games going so strong and the price seeming to be very low, this will be one of the most successful console launches if everything goes as it has been speculated to!

I don't think the Wii will sell for that low. It would be great to see the Wii cost to low, but I think it's a slim chance it would cost $170 USD. If Nintendo is smart they would sell it for $200 USD and I think that's going to be the price for the Wii. $200 seems resanoble for anyone and will defenetly bring people into gaming.

$170 is an odd number. I think $200.

Well, to those who think the analysts are wrong, just remember many were dead on with the 360 and PS3 prices. Though, 170 is REALLY cheap. You can get a DS for not much less than that. I think that 200 is more likely, but at 170 they'd sell out so friggan fast it's not even funny.

but if true, that would be great for nintendo, I mean, 170$ is 2.9 times less than a ps3!

ps: but I'll buy a ps3 first I'm pretty sure, and wii second... and finally an xbox 360 modded + a pack of 15 DVD R+ DL lol

That will not worry me because I need to know if the third parties will be support for it then I can buy it.

You said 27 games ?! Are you nuts!? I do not buy too many games. I only buy the games that are worth and fun..not everything.

of a ds to the wii, think about it, 170+130=300 same as a basic 360, so instead of buying a 360 ppl would likely go for a handheld and a console and games for both r cheaper than any other next gen (excludin those platinum or w.e. it is for 360) games. Nintendo has been looking at the broadest audience of all, the poor and mid class pplz of the world, now all thats left is the games which is y they keep intriguing 3rd party game developers and new comers, they r planning to show up the competition on how gainin support is done.

I believe that the SNES, N64, and GC all launched at $200. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would guess that is going to be the launch price.

$250 at most due to inflation of the US$.

Screw you Bush.
