Rock Band Harmonix - Image 1Music and rhythm game fanatics in Europe will finally be able to rock out with Electronic Arts' Rock Band (Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 3) this May, but here's the clincher: the price tag for the game and the instruments may not be too palatable. Check out the prices below:
  • Rock Band (game disc): GBP 49.99 (or EUR 69.99, US$ 110)
  • Instrument Edition (guitar, drums, microphone): GBP 129.99 (or EUR 169, US$ 265)
As you can see, Europe will not be getting the same Rock Band Bundle consisting of the instruments and the game that players in the U.S. enjoyed. This means that European gamers are looking at a total of GBP 180 or EUR 240 (US$ 377) if they get the Instrument Edition plus the game. It's practically almost double the price compared to its U.S. counterpart, and the price might actually make you think you're buying a new game console.

It's a bit steep, yes, and we wish that EA may have announced the high price by mistake; but if it does turn out to be the actual cost, gamers located in Europe can always wait for retail level discounts.

I don't see them calling it 'instrument edition' without the game being there. If the game wasn't there wouldn't it just be called instrument bundle or something...

That's only the RRP. Most retailers will sell at a lot less than that. It's already available from play.com on pre-order at £39.99 for the game and £99.99 for the instruments. That's about 40 less than those prices.

These prices are just outrageous.

I can buy myself a brand spankin new Xbox360 Arcade for that kindof money.

People should massboycot this kindof bull*****. Just because the american dollar is such a weak piece of ***** doesn't mean we europeans should pay for it. Then again, we could all just buy the american version... which is hell of a lot cheaper for europeans
