I don't know whether to cry or laugh. I was so preoccupied with Emmy Rossum's transformation into an Asian cosplaying chick that I almost missed James Marsters Apple-green, almost seasick-looking complexion. I am horrified at the sheer campiness of the whole thing, but I'm transfixed at the same time. The movie's sooo gonna suck. That's probably why I'm gonna go watch it. I hated Dragonball.

So bad... So very bad...
It's campy. I'm a big fan of camp, just like the Street Fighter movie. Sure the movie sucked, but it was a lot of fun to watch.

Sure, they took some creative liberties, but movie-making is not always about being real. Go ahead and flame me, I liked the Doom movie as well.

it could have been worse. at least it's not uwe boll, right? hahaha anyways. i'm watching this. just because. i love camp. i love dbz. and whatever people say... blah. i'm watching this as a movie of its own right - i don't want to be a nitpicky purist. like how all those xmen purists say that the movies were bad. jeez. can't they just watch a movie and see it as a movie in itself? sheesh.
I dunno. I don't think I'm that much of a purist, but if Hollywood's going to make a movie out of a beloved franchise and then ruins it for everyone, that kinda kills it. It's like they just took the rights of a popular franchise just to make money off of the name, without particular respect to the culture of the fanbase. If this movie wasn't Dragonball, less people would pay attention to it. But because it is Dragonball, good or bad, it still gets hype.
Oh well, they could always make another much better one later on just like the hulk and batman
I'm not saying I won't watch it but that's definitely not the dragonball that I know.

Sorry to said this but this was written years back. So that comment bout the writers of today does not apply. Also, the movie will never looked like the cartoon- EVER- That it looked better than the previous DBZ movie which by the way I watched like in the 90's YEAh. That they will kill the franchise with this one? Absolutely. That I will watch it? Yes I will because I like DBZ.
I think they should just make more dragonball animated movies.... I reckon even a CGI movie would be a hell of a lot better than this...
everybody was saying the same thing about Transformers how it was nothing like Transformers at all...but we all know how that turned out. But really that trailer was awful.
I can't BELIEVE I just saw that. Just WOW. That isn't crap like the series. Even if you hated the DBZ series, you could watch one episode and tell this trailer is horrifically inaccurate. The movie will flop and suck complete balls, and because of that, I'll watch it.

im so heartbroken...im a huge fan of dbz and was looking so forward to this...until 2 seconds ago. WTF was that man! lol y did they have to make this seem like another cheap kung fu flick...not to mention they didnt even try to make these people look like the characters..and since the f**k when did bulma become some crazy fighter at the age of 16! :`(

Why the hell is Goku white?!!! Bulma's hot but I'm still asking the first question. This movie is gonna sell but it's gonna suck. Who ever casted Goku as a white guy should die. I have no problem with white people but Goku should be Japanese or at least Asian looking. Next time I'm gonna make a movie of Naruto played by a black guy(maybe Samuel Jackson because he's in every good movie).
Some people commenting here are REALLY confused, including, unfortunately, some QJ.net staff. -This is DragonBall: Evolution, not a DragonBall movie. They added Evolution for a reason. -This is DragonBall:Evolution, not DragonBall Z: Evolution. Sure, the movie is different from the original anime, but its not the case like in Fallout 3, where they just forgot about their roots. They added Evolution so that they can be different, so don't be so strict when comparing it with the anime. Also, this is DragonBall, not DragonBall Z that we are talking about. DragonBall was WAY more cartoonish, anime-ish, and silly than DBZ. Sure the trailer is weird, but what did you expect from a DB movie? The directors and producers of this film are of top quality, and you should at least be skeptical about it. Kung Fu Hustle and Shiaolin Soccer were great movies, although cheesy. This is in the same tune.
If there is something to be disappointed at by that trailer is the lack of cleavage and panties shown. The DragonBall series was famous for that. Well, not the American version.
No they won't. This is a one time thing. A lot of people are gonna watch this movie because it's DBZ. If this movie sucks and they make another one then the chances of people watching that movie will drop. Hulk was okay...just because they added Abomination it made the movie better than the 1st but story still wasn't that great. Batman was perfect though(contrast between reality and fiction was great).
Goku is not Japanese.... he wasn't even born in Earth.
The voice actor for this trailer voices almost all the trailers of bad movies. F*ck, the movie's being released on my birthday. That's just mean. A movie like Watchmen I wouldn't mind (I would love it!), but crap like this? Bah.

You know what it reminds me of? The Super Mario Brother's movie. The live action one where Bowser is just some dirty guy in a bad coat and the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the intellectual property that it is based on except in the names of characters. yeah, that's what this is. A super dragonball brothers z movie.

Why would you cast a white guy anywhere in this, except to play that annoying guy Hercule (because he seemed like he was supposed to be white in the cartoon :-) and everyone that says that they hate it already, but are going to see it.... why??

There has only been one trailer and everybody is up in arms about how horrible the movie will be, no one knows that yet. Just wait and see, some of you might be pleasantly surprised. At least there not taking as many liberties as people did with the abominable Speed Racer movie. As for the Goku being white part, that is a little annoying since he's loosely based of The Monkey King from the Saiyuki story, and thus should look Chinese.
