Dragon Quest IX A Wii Exclusive?

Dragon QuestLast month, we featured 18 PS2 titles that we would want to see making its way to the PS3. One of those titles was Dragon Quest IX. Now if the rumors posted on EGM's latest issue turn out to be true, then all hope is lost for those who wished the same thing.

A certain EGM staffwriter by the name of Quarterman has posted in the latest EGM's Rumors section that Dragon Quest IX is going to be exclusive (along with another rumor that an MMO Mana game from Square Enix is on the works for Wii). Now, if it true, then it's good news for all gamers looking out to get a Wii. Well, for PS3 (and Xbox 360) fans, don't be too sad...this is just a rumor, and there's still chance that it may turn out false. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear updates on these.

# There should be two versions one for the Wii and the other for PS3TheProfessor 2006-07-14 05:04
It would be such a waste if we didnt get Dragon Quest 9 for a next gen graphic system.

DQ in HD, life can be no sweeter.

The style of Dragon Quest 8 would look great on Wii. Just look a DBZ on Wii.

I know HD can be a big deal. I'm a PC gamer. Running CS at 1024x720 does not make it look better than CSS. It doesn't even look better than Metroid Prime... On the other hand if you put CSS in 640x480 it looks worst then on a higher res. Still, it is not as good as MP.

If a game is made with a low res in mind it can still look good. On the other hand if the game was made for a higher res and is played on a low res it looks bad. As it is right now HD games are made with both in mind.

Most of the work goes is for an HD res but because the same game needs to be playable in SD you can't make a game that fully uses HD or else people with out it will be at a disadvantage. This is more of a problem for online games because it can mess with the games balance.

Not every one will own a HDTV. Even after February 17, 2009 when analog TV signals are cut off you will not need a HDTV. You can still use cable and satellite. Also Digital TVs are cheaper then HDTVs and can pick up digital signals. Because of this my interest in HDTVs is a lot smaller. Until HD is used to it's fullest I will just wait for a price drop. HD can be use to display amounts of content not possible in SD. I don't want to pay extra for the same thing I get in SD but clearer...

# it's like the ds, no games can fit other platforms..senjutsu 2006-07-18 10:23
but.. errr.... I hope dragon quest on wii doesn't transform into a hack&slah with the wiimote...

And also, I think this is stupid, they sould continu the dragon quest on the ps3 also, maybe not the sames as on wii ( can't port wii games ), but make another story I dunno... this is stupid I don't want a wii!!! :'( now they want to force me to buy a wii! awww, I suppose I'll buy one only if I lack too much money for a ps3 ( I should be okay , dunno ), because ps3 games are the best =D, MGS4, DMC4, RE5, GTA4, FF13, FF versus 13, etc etc!!! all good games! I just hope the wii'll cost less than 250 them... maybe 200$ ? that would be cool.

Everyone knows that Dragon Quest fans hate change. They wouldn't tolerate the series turning into a Wiimote hack-and-slash.
