Dragon Quest: Hack and Slash Weaponry

It's rumored that Dragon Quest IX is heading to Wii. There hasn't been any official confirmation, but back in July, Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) posted in their rumors section that the future of DQ9 lies on the success of Dragon Quest
for the Wii.

The Dragon Quest series of RPG games is a huge success in Japan. It tells the story of the legendary hero known as Roto. It features quite a number of religious overtones and thus suffered from substantial censorship in the North American localizations. The game is not as successful outside Japan due to the popularity of the Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS) and Final Fantasy series.

While we wait for official word from Square Enix, Dragon Quest fans in Japan had a glimpse of what the Wii game could be like. The Japanese ad for Dragon Quest shown below shows a baby sword and what seems to be a motion sensing  box that could detect the swinging and slashing actions of the sword. Looks interesting, but something tells us that this is more of a TV sword game than a Wii game. But still, it gives us an idea of the sword swinging mechanic that'll possibly be utilized for the Wii game.

this is kenshin dragon quest, it's an old game plug-and-play directly into the tv, it's really bad and if the wii game is going to be like it I won't buy the wii, that's for sure.

Oh, and this news is as old as the "new" wii name.

Read the *****ing article. As for calling QJ staffers "stupid", all of your posts make autism look like Yale material.

# err, your new in QJ maybe?senjutsu 2006-08-07 04:53
because they already posted this before, the first time they said it was the dragon quest on wii and posted a video, but it was not on wii but kenshin dragon quest with the plastic sword, yes this show some game mechanics, maybe but the news is old like my gramma. on the topic the guy "Maricar V." said: interesting, but something tells us that this is more of a TV sword game than a Wii game. So he wasn't even sure this was kenshin dragon quest and he posted it anyway? I mean, get to info right before posting, here on QJ I saw a LOT of errors... more than real deal. like the time they said when you buy a ps3 you get 7 free games lol, they just mistranslated it, it was 1 games from the 7 they chose.

Anyway if dragon quest tower and mirrors and stuff ( wii ) is like the kenshin plastic sword game I'll pass on the wii, I don't want to play gimmics, I want also real games, I mean, I'm a fan of dragon quest, I don't want it to become too much "casual", I'm hoping for something there, if it's too much for kids, I'll buy a ps3 1st instead and buy the wii after some time when more games will be on it.

# and for calling QJ staff stupidsenjutsu 2006-08-07 05:04
for calling "Maricar V." stupid I over reacted a little, but man, can you say it's good journalism? in Qj most of the people who post are not even objevtive, I mean, this is bad because sometime they say thing only them think. It's NOT okay to see things you "thnk" on a post a lot of people will read, they even attacked the wii and the ps3 at 1st ( and are still attaking the ps3 from times to times ), they should always remain neutral, WE can decide if we like or not something, they cannot simply impose their opinion in the news, we're not in china! ( in china the gouvernment censure even the internet... )

ps: ", all of your posts make autism look like Yale material." autism look like yale material? and why? an autism will look like yale for you aftre reading my post?.. I'm at university right now at UQAM, university of quebec at montreal I have to say that QJ sometimes go really low, I continu here because they gather the news I want to hear. So stop saying non-sense, what are you? a kid? At least you're not better than me because if said I overdid it you surely overdid it yourseft a lot.

Okay, my apologies.

I thought you calling the blogger 'stupid' just to be nasty like the many American teenagers here who can't bother to learn their own language..Very immature of me to overreact. Again, sorry.
