Donkey Kong Country Returns has a new Kong to help you out

It's been years since the last DKC, so apart from fans of the SNES series, there will also be a lot of players new to the franchise. Since DKC games can have their moments of difficulty, Nintendo and Retro Studios are introducing a new Kong to help you out.

Cranky must've gotten too old to provide his veteran expertise now, so you'll be turning to Super Kong for advice. Yes, that's his name, that makes him the only one whose name won't rhyme with the others'. Like most of the other support Kongs, Super Kong will not be a playable character and will only appear through the game's "Super Guide" help system to aid players having some difficulty.

The Super Guide is much like that of Super Mario Bros. Wii where you'll have the option of making the AI show you how to complete a level if you die in it eight times. Once you select that option, Super Kong will appear in DK's stead, with silver fur and a blue tie, to progress through the level for you. You can go back to the driver's seat at any time you feel you can proceed without him.

Of course, letting Super Kong do all the work won't be so fun. Using him in a level will have a corresponding mark on the world map, showing that you weren't able to beat it without his help. Also note that he will not uncover all of the shortcuts and bonuses for you, so don't expect to be spoonfed.
