Apparently Part 1 wasn't enough to cover all the ground Nintendo and CVG wanted to cover on the Virtual Console. There are a few more questions left unanswered in CVG's follow-up to their VC article (which we covered) last week. Although one of the topics they covered - sorry, nada rumble VC N64 - we already reported on as well. Still, let's see what the leftovers are...
- All VC titles are faithful programming reproductions of the original solid-state cartridges they were imprinted on lo, those many years ago. Meaning:
- You know that multiplayer-via-internet feature that some PC Nintendo emulators had? Not gonna happen in the VC.
- Because "Principle programming, characters, sound etc. have not been changed," if the game had some jaggies or slowdowns (due to the limits of the original hardware and the cartridge), it's gonna be on the VC, too.
- Nintendo has no plans so far of manufacturing GameCube controllers as a Wii accessory. But Nintendo GameCube accessories are still available from all good retailers.
- The N64 controller had 6 face buttons. The Classic Controller only has four face. To counter this discrepancy, "Controller layouts will be determined on a game-by-game basis and detailed in the electronic manual."
- "More Virtual Console games will be announced at a later date. New Virtual Console titles will be added in 2007 and beyond creating a constantly growing library of games."
- Game size will vary per game, but averages run about: NES games = 1MB, SNES games = 5MB, N64 = 32 MB. You can start calculating the number of games per SD card, boys.
- Each VC title will be displayed as an individual Wii Channel. "Users may move these channels around to suit them."
