Crytek's Cervat Yerli Talks About the Wii

Image from Game InformerIn an interview, Crytek's CEO and president Cervat Yerli talked about Crysis and the company's goals with regard to the presentation of the game.

According to Yerli, you can achieve anything with any hardware. What's important is correct optimization, knowing the hardware's limitations, and proper art direction.

Yerli said, "But we will never go multiplatform just because we have to. Are people asking for it? Will we go for it? As a goal we will deliver that experience, but weÂ’ll have to optimize for that platform as the same goal as the PC version. It wouldnÂ’t be just a conversion; it would be a very specific Crysis experience for the gamer."

When asked about the Nintendo Wii, Yerli said that given the Wii's limited power, yet revolutionary controller, If, and if (he didn't want to be quoted as having plans for the Wii), they intend to make Crysis for the Wii, they will have to do a completely optimal version.

This could mean that Crytek is starting to consider next-gen consoles for their visually stunning game. It may also mean that the CEO just intentionally released an ambiguous statement to help gather hype. What's safe to assume is that they are very much intrigued by the wiimote and are perhaps making plans to take advantage of it.
