Kurt & Courtney - Image 1

I can't honestly say for certain if the inclusion of his likeness in Guitar Hero 5 (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii) caused Kurt Cobain to turn over in his grave. One thing's sure though: Courtney Love is pissed to high hell because of it.

Love recently posted the following Tweets regarding her thoughts on Kurt being a playable character in Guitar Hero 5, threatening to take legal action against publisher Activision. Oh, and FYI, these were copied verbatim. The errors were there when I saw them. Honest!

now theyre just LIQUIDATING kurt and IM THE DEVIL? I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GUITAR HERO I LOATHE IT AND FIND IT ODIOUS KURT WOULD HAVE TOO

...

For the record this Guitar Hero shit is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction.

...

WE are going to sue the sh*t out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises.

You can read more at Love's Twitter page. I don't find the idea of a digitized Kurt (Johnny Cash too) camping it up and singing along to whatever the most godawful song in GH5 is to my liking, but these tweeted outbursts are... somewhat fun to read. Provided you don't get headaches easily.

Activision has yet to say anything official about the issue.

» coattails of a dead man...

One day from the depths of his deep darkened hole,

he reached out for something to feel.

She offered back nothin' but lack of respect

so he left himself out with two barrels of steel.

She cried in the day, she cried in the night.

She cried loudest when someone was near.

Whether crying for him or she cried for herself,

the bigger the camera, the bigger the tear.

I'd kill myself too if one day I realised I was married to this talentless and vile *****. I got no problem with Cobain and Cash being in Guitar Hero. I hope it introduces their excellence to a new generation of fans and stop them listening to high school musical or some crap.

» UNDERGROUND

Guitar Hero DOES NOT DESERVE to have the likes of Kurt Cobain who is an underground artist who would NEVER market himself in that direction.

As for Courtney Love she is just protecting Kurts image. Most little kids don't give a ***** who Kurt is PLUS most of the people who play guitar hero are kids/ nerds anyway and can give a ***** about Kurt ANY day

the end.

» I think I agree with her.

I can see that Kurt (yes, I am on first name basis) would quite possibly not have wanted anything to do with Guitar Hero.

I can also see that the Record Label (Bully) will not have rights to Kurts likeness. They will only have his musical art (including film/pictures) under their belt.

He was signed to Geffen *****ing records, a division of the Universal Music Group. He played on MTV. His music is played constantly on mainstream radio. He's not *****ing underground you pretentious douche *****monger. Hole (Courtney Love's band) was also signed to Geffen. Nirvana is a good band, but so is Alice In Chains. So is (was) Metallica. So was Bach, Mozart. Nirvana wasn't anything special save that they were, like so many others, actually talented, unlike most of pop radio these days.
