Cops bust drug dealer, play with his Wii

Back in March, Florida police raided the home of a 43-year-old ex-con which yielded some drugs, weapons, and stolen property. Job well done, right? It would have been, if only they weren't caught playing with the guy's Wii after the raid.

By that I mean they played some bowling on Wii Sports. All of the hot ball-on-pin action was caught on camera thanks to a security device that the detectives didn't notice. The raid's supervisor did notice them playing, but instead of reprimanding the officers he joined in the game.

"Well you can't explain that," said Polk County sheriff Grady Judd. "My deputies know that they shouldn't have been playing Wii while they were involved in that search warrant."

"It's an embarrassment to the detectives involved and its an embarrassment to the organization. But you know what? We employ 1,800 people and not one of them is perfect. We all make mistakes. They made a mistake," Judd added.

A total of 16 detectives from the Sheriff's office, Winter Haven, Auburndale and Lakeland police departments were involved in the raid, which lasted nine hours and reportedly cost taxpayers US$ 4,000. Sheriff Judd, however, claims that no tax dollars were wasted as there's always downtime during searches.

Cops getting paid to screw off? NEVER!

Actually pretty much everything cops do is a waste of taxpayer money.

I'm sure they paid SIXTEEN detectives for NINE hours, (wasting $4,000) by auctioning off property THEY said was stolen (and unclaimed) or bought with drug money for their worthless department.

It is not required to actually PROVE anything was stolen or bought with drug money as long as drugs are found.

That's why police ONLY CARE about drug busts. They are VERY PROFITABLE for worthless police departments because they can seize pretty much anything and everything they want in these cases.

Victim of a crime? Police don't care to do anything but fill out a report. No money to be made in solving that case.

Somebody trying to kill you? They'll may investigate if you're murdered. They might even catch the guy if it's easy.

They will gladly make you a safer driver by randomly screwing you out of money exceeding a speed limit on a perfectly safe road while neglecting any patrol of dangerous roads. People speed less on dangerous roads, so less profit and ticket quota there.

Now let's hear the cops defending their worthless actions.

"The sheriff argues there is always down time during searches, no tax dollars were wasted."

So 16 officers are needed to spend down time at one location for 9 hours? Sure, not any tax money wasted....

"The nature of a search warrant is hurry up and wait it just is, am i trying to defend the fact that they were bowling not at all, that was inappropriate."

It was only inappropriate because there was a public video made of the bust. This is the only way to make police accountable for misconduct, corruption, and law breaking. Official complaint forms are merely police harassment forms, meaning police from that department will ALWAYS screw you over for filling one out.

This is TRUE, and has been confirmed by multiple news organizations.

"The sheriff claims he launched an internal administrative investigation, and will wait for a final report before he decides if anyone will face discipline."

Internal investigation means, quietly sweep this under the rug. The police union defends innocent killings by police, so there will be no discipline for being in an embarrassing video.

"It's an embarrassment to the detectives involved and its an embarrassment to the organization but you know what we employee 1800 people and not one of them is perfect we all make mistakes. They made a mistake."

Police only make mistakes when videotaped, right?

Judging by money wasted on this ONE case, they could safely lay off half their work force.

Dude, get a grip. First of all, how often do you have to risk your life on your job? What they did was stupid, but come on, everyone goofs off on their job at some time or another. Yes there is police corruption and yes cops can be stupid, but the alternative is no cops and unchecked crime. I think I'd rather deal with a prick giving out a speeding ticket who goofs off every now and than than people driving around shooting everyone who cuts them off.
