Metroid Prime - Image 1New DS, check. Storage solution for Wii, check. GameCube games for the Wii? Uber check!

Announced during today's Nintendo press conference is Wii de Asobu Selection. It's a new line of Nintendo releases, taking their first-party titles from the GameCube and bringing them over to the Wii.

No, they're not just re-releasing them as they were in the GameCube! Nintendo is enhancing their previous GameCube games and giving them Wiimote support, kinda like what Capcom did for Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.

So far, there's no word about any release outside of Japan, but for now the confirmed titles to be released under the Wii de Asobu Selection (which, btw, directly translates to "Play on the Wii Selection") are the following:
  • Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (to be released on December 11, 2008)
  • Pikmin (December 25, 2008)
  • Chibi Robo (2009)
  • Pikmin 2 (2009)
  • Mario Tennis GC (2009)
  • Metroid Prime (2009)
  • Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes (2009)
Sweet. Now the entire Metroid Prime trilogy is playable with the Wiimote (let's hope they make the controls work as seamless as Corruption's controls). And let's hope they bring Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine too.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Exactly! This will be good for those who never got to play them in the first place.

Now wait for the Wii Trolls to cry about re-re-releasing.

They could still sell New Gamecube games instead of used. I wouldn't buy these. Super Smash Bros. Melee and Animal Crossing should be next! Maybe in Animal Crossing, you will be able to put NES games into your VC library.

this is kinda neat on one hand, and on the other it is pretty cheap.

I mean, Zelda TP was originally coded as a GC game anyway. They just decided to hold it back, and make it run on the wii instead.

If these new games are release for no more than $20 then it will be GREAT. Otherwise I dont think its worth it.

And I don't care, but IF I did, I'd rather get the Gamecube versions used for like $10 since the Gamecube controller works better anyway.

But Nintendo has some great money making ideas that somehow work. Like re-selling the same game again and again with minimal improvements. If only they cared about NEW games......

This is the exact reason everyone thinks you're an idiot:

"since the Gamecube controller works better anyway."

You base your opinions on ZERO information. That makes your opinions WORTHLESS, FALSE, LIES.

Absolutely no information has been given to us about how the Wii controller will be used yet you already know it's going to suck?

You not only fail in everything technological, you also fail as a human being.

Good for those who haven't played the games before or want to play them with Wiimote controls, but really I'd rather see Nintendo actually working on more (good please) games themselves, rather than just rereleasing older things.

Cool. I missed a lot of these games the first time around.

Is there something wrong with the gamecube controller? I know they need some kind of reason to re-release games that cost $10 used at the game store for $30-$40, but it's just tacked on features to make more money.

Sure I fail as a human being iso, although I don't sit in front of the computer 8 hours a day to defend a game console from negative comments. No, I'M the failure, sure.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Why does something have to be wrong with the gamecube controller in order to make something BETTER? Pure ignorance.

As for sitting in front of a computer...um...what the hell do you think you're doing? Beside being a douche bag and trolling a NINTENDO section just to leave comments that are full of BS.

...since I visited QJ and actually found an interesting article. But when I do find one, this, I scroll down knowing exactly what I was going to read in the comments section.

I thought that idiot had stopped posting? Like I say, it has been a while since I've read an article here, so maybe he's been trolling all this time, and I've been missing out on owning him. Although, I'm sure ISOhaven will have put him firmly in his place. Repeatedly.

Hey I'm still here.

I have a Wii.

I have every right to be here and speak my mind on how bad it sucks.

If some good games ever come out, I probably won't be so negative toward it.

Soon, I'll have a modchip and will never have to pay for Nintendo's crap games.

HA HA HA HA
