Chocobo on the run, new Chocobo's Dungeon title on the way

It's not a bird, not a plane, nothing like other winged creatures you've seen before. If you've been a fan of Final Fantasy games or even just vaguely familiar with the series, you must've heard of this overgrown chick that can fly, swim, dig, and even walk on water. It's none other than the Chocobo, an icon that appeared early in the FF franchise that fans have grown to love.

In a recent press conference, Square Enix announced that a new Chocobo game will come out for the Wii titled Chocobo's Dungeon Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu. It's gonna be a celebration for our beloved bird's 10th year anniversary since the first Chocobo Dungeon, and we can expect it to be a blast.

The art style seems similar to Chocobo Tales, a game released on the Nintendo DS. While SE didn't allow photographs or videos of the trailer they presented on the press conference, the gameplay revealed is somewhat similar to the title's predecessors. Random dungeons are still around, along with the turn-based battles. Yuki Yokoyama, the game's producer, promised that the game will not just be a dungeon-crawler so we can expect much from this title.

During the conference, Yokoyama's messages lean towards Chocobo's Dungeon Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu having a special gift for Chocobo Tales owners. More info on this would probably be revealed on Square Enix party. Meanwhile, check out our big boy in action during the Square Enix Pre-Party Press conference on the video below. Now, that's one way to announce a new Chocobo title.

In case anyone's wondering, my horrid japanese translates the title to something like:

The Labyrinth of Forgotten Times or The Lost Labyrinth

Of course, I could just be really bad at Japanese and that's incorrect.
