Wii Nunchuck attachment

Ever wanted to know what makes your controller work? Well, if you do, then you're not alone as the friendly people over at ChinaGBA are curious, too. They decided to turn their attention to Wii's Nunchuck attachment.

Literally stripping down the Nunchuck attachment to the bare essentials, ChinaGBA had the Nunchuck butchered and taken apart all the way to its innards. One interesting thing is that they have finally confirmed the rumor whether the attachment uses a USB connector or not, and everyone can see for themselves what it connects to, exactly, all thanks to the close-up photos that they took.

As for why they have the said attachment this early and whether they were able to put it back together afterwards, we can't really tell since the original site is in Chinese. We are however, really hoping that the Nunchuck was put back together safe and sound after the photo session.

What do you think the connector is for???

It gets it's power from the "Wii-mote"

Anyone think/know if the joystick is also a button? (You know how you can click the joysticks in on other controllers.

It probably takes its power of the main controller.

# Where's the motion sensor?Guest 2006-09-26 08:59
I know that the nunchuck has motion sensing capabilities, so which part of it is the motion sensor?

The 'remote control' part has the motion sensor. This is just a joystick and a couple of buttons.

# 11, how long have you been hiding under a rock?Guest 2006-09-26 23:30
A large number of demo videos quite clearly show the nunchuck being waved about to do stuff in games, and many articles for the past few months from people who have actually played on Wii have stated that the nunchuck is also motion-sensitive.

Usb, eh? That seems interesting.....Maybe we will be able to make our own Wii attachments(an adapter for classic controllers anyone?) or maybe we can hook the Nunchuck to the PC if someone can get us some drivers for it.
