Chargers fans pray Tomlinson ain't Madden NFL 08's cover boy |

Can you blame them? Chargers running back and MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is one of the candidates to grace the cover of Madden NFL '08 - and possibly (we said possibly) by the mythical "Madden curse." So it must have amused Gamespot staff when the site reported on efforts by Chargers fans to make their sentiments known to EA: keep our boy off the cover.
Unless, of course, some of their employees are from San Diego. Or Chargers fans.
One such effort is the online petition "SaveLTFromMadden," complete with photoshopped LT-on-Madden with the internationally-recognized symbol for "No way, Jose." Hilarious? Maybe. Amusing, perhaps. But some people do take their football very seriously. You know, like across the water, where the English take their football (as in association football/soccer) very seriously.
Of course, for fans of last installment's cover boy, Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander, Tomlinson on the cover might be construed as sweet payback. After all, LT did trounce Alexander's record for rushing touchdowns. (It might also be noted that, like Tomlinson in '06, Alexander was the 2005 NFL MVP. And having two running back MVPs in a row might seem a fortuitous scoop for EA PR, curse to the player notwithstanding).
Either way, everything will become moot on Jimmy Kimmel Live quite, quite soon.
