Capcom: PlayStation 3 has reached full swing

Despite a rocky start, and harsh words from some very outspoken members of the video game community (remember David Perry?), the PlayStation 3 has been picking up momentum lately.

In fact, with ginormous releases in the near future, such as LittleBigPlanetand Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and the new PlayStation 3 models, one can only see a brighter future ahead for the Sony console.

Will Sony be able to keep up the pace? Capcom seems to think so. In fact, the publisher believes that sales will pick up even more when they release Resident Evil 5. In a conference call for their first quarter results, Capcom had this to say:

We believe that PS3 has finally reached full swing after looking at the success of Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as future large-scale title line-ups

In addition, some reduction in the PS3's price was announced at the 2008 E3, and we can expect its spread to increase by next March when our Resident Evil 5 for PS3 will be released.

Which is not to say that they are abandoning the other platforms. They continue that:

As we are not only focusing on PS3, we would also like to spread our supply of software evenly between Wii and Xbox 360 while their markets in the world increase in a similar manner to PS3.

Lets see, Capcom who is at the very least non biased. is cheering the ps3?

or really, are they cunningly attacking it..

a console with an ?intended? decade long life span has hit it's prime in it's practical infant tracks, only a little over two years old and in third place, and it's in full swing... ...

there is a console war going on,, to be honest ive seen more cap support on the 360 this gen..

hmm something just doesn't add up here.. hmmm

surely capcom ment only the best intentions with this statment, I mean, why would they say something damaging about sonys console...

The difference between the Gamecube and the PS3 is that RE4 came out 4 years after the launch of the GC, pretty much at the end of it's cycle. MGS4 came out 2 years after the PS3's launch and the console still has a few years ahead and with more and more games comming out, more and more "spikes", as you say, will happen.

So I finally got one and first thing I did was get resistance and it freakin blows. Even the menu looks like trash. I love the blue ray and the built in wifi but overall the system is nowhere near what the 360 is IMO. I do however plan on getting littlebigplanet which looks to be super awesome so hopefully it will change my opinion.

please reitterate what exactly do you mean by "overall system"

the software line up which are pretty much equal

or quality of games? which certianly goes to the ps3 with games like mgs4,resistance ,drake's fortune,and ratchet and clank and of course the soon to be released like LittleBigPlanet and ff13.vs

perhaps you meant the G.U.I sony with its easy to navigate xmb (focused mainly on icons) and 360's blade system.............................seriously i dont care if your blind you cant say the blades are nicer , perhaps easier to navigate (i disagree) but definitely not nicer.

hmm seems like the ps3 is betetr in these areas you must of meant features like blu ray and a web browser...... oh darn it ps3 wins there too

Dude chill out man.. I don't think it sucks i'm just saying I enjoy my 360 a lot better. What is your problem is sony paying you to be a mindless fanboy and do you even have both systems? Most of you ps3 fanboys have never even tried out the 360 so you don't know which is better. Try playing gears and then play resistance and you will see what i'm talking about.

did you really need to bring religion/pray into the conversation? we all know there are "ps3fanboys" as well as "MSfanboys" but there is no reason to bring up some of the points you did...

anyway, capcom started with nintendo, same as tecmo (team ninja branched off...for those that did not know) rare, squaresoft/squar-enix, and many others, but became neutral over time. these companies are run by humans so they are entitled to their own opinions, just because they make games for 1 company doesn't mean they can't praise another.

as far as wilmheath and death talking bout the ps3 vs 360, this is not needed. Everyone knows that ps3 is better in some aspects, 360 is better in others. how bout we leave these conversations alone, and just focus on the great games coming out for all systems

Ps3 maybe in third now but in Jan they were down by 7 mill now its 5.4 and its out sold 360 almost every month this year not just june for MGS4 on top of that its doing well with out fantastic line up imageine when LBP Killzone Resistance God of War Afrika FF vsXIII Heavy rain Bioshock Socom and GT5 hit over the next year from now let alone Home this is not including the stuff thats not announced and future price cuts or bundles and LE colors really were instore for a great future for current and future PS3 owners can anyone agree?

I think we all can agree that IGN is the biggest gaming website correct? I don't think that is disputed. Now take a look at this list. http://games.ign.com/topgames/ Go ahead and look at which ones are on top and how many are 360 compared to ps3. Yes you personally may believe the ps3 is superior but I think the general public may disagree with you. I finally have both now so I can finally tell people exactly why I think my 360 is better.

If you play fps's do you think the ps3 controller is better than the 360's in that aspect?

the "best" controller is a matter of opinion

IMO i've been using the ps controller since ps1 its never changed since dualshock; because it works , its comfortable, has enough buttons its perfect. the 360 controller is slightly larger same amount of buttons and the d pad and analog have been swapped ( the only real difference from ps) i like the ps controller more (especially for fps' )

now as for your website sure ign is a great credible site. but how many of those games have been released? how many are multiplat? did u actually look at the list? like honestly top spots are gears 2 then fable 2 then force unleashed

all unreleased one multiplat

compare the top 5 exclusives (ratings) you will see what i mean

Please tell me you are referring to a Dead Rising title other than that for the Wii.

From what I have seen on the one for the Wii, things started going downhill when they removed the camera. It was the main premise for the game. It just can't get much better. It was nice to hear it is running on the RE4 engine though...

I digress...badly

Well of course, Capcom, sales will increase when RE5 comes out. I think that is a given.
