According to a Capcom spokesperson, their upcoming Monster Hunter 3 may be getting some platform releases on other consoles too. In an interview with a Chinese magazine, the Capcom rep mentioned that "the decision of Monster Hunter 3's Wii-exclusivity is not yet final."

This conveniently makes the PS3 a likely candidate for a Monster Hunter 3 release, not only because the previous games are available on its other siblings (PS2, PSP), but more so because the third game was supposed to have been on the PS3. They had to switch to the Wii due to high PS3 development costs.

There's now also this little thing called the Ad hoc Party. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G's already supporting the feature, after all. And they could follow through with it, with a Monster Hunter game on the Sony console.

Speaking of portable, the source of this news item has reason to believe that "a portable version of Monster Hunter 3" may eventually see the light of day.

PS3?

Not likely. If they're not keeping it exclusive to Wii, then it will be multiplatform on PS2 and/or PSP. They ditched the PS3 in the first place because they'd have to remake the game from the ground up. On Wii, they just needed to port the engine over, which we've seen is apparently so easy, it fuels shovelware.

This is a serious decision

If there there will be a console with exclusive MH3 rights, it'll get an incredible sales boost. Make it PSP exclusive lol.

hoping for a ps3 release

it'd be really great if dey decide to make it for the ps3. it wud definetely help ps3 sell. a psp release wudnt b too bad either, with adhoc party, but just imagine mh in ps3 :p. noone's ever thought of a release for 360, but hey lets keep our fingers crossed lol.

Monster Hunter

Theres something different about monster hunter, more like something unique. And i mean all of this in a good way.
by azn1189 - 2008-12-09 10:14:12
definetely

it sure is. that's probably y it hasnt made it big in the US. the fact that it is different from the conventional hack n slash makes it an undesirable game for an average person. i admit it takes time to learn how to play it, but it is so good once u do learn.

lol

Monster Hunter has a lot of good things going on for it, but the clunky controls aren't one of them. You don't so much "learn to play" as you just "learn to cope with the crap controls". In this day and age, sluggish controls shouldn't define a game's level of difficulty, which is what MH does. And in that respect, it fails miserably.

Would it make you pay more attention in English class?

...

High chance it'll come to PSP, especially with the massive success they had with the recent PSP iterations.

ps3

right now, there are three games im really looking forward to getting: killzone 2, little big planet, and crash commando. this would be a fourth. i loved the first monster hunter when i had a psp, i'd be a happy camper if it came out on ps3.

PSP plz

I would love a PSP version.. Easier for fans to translate than a PS3 version... Since the chance of MH3 gettin localized is slim xD. And even if it does, it'll take years knowing Capcom lol... So PSP plix@!

Does this game have a large learning curve or...

Do I just suck at these games? I just got into it this year around when Freedom 2 came out. I bought Freedom 2 and have never played a game that made me feel as awful as this. Never before had I experienced a "Boss" battle (the hunts whatever) so hard I wanted to punch a baby. Sure the game is fun, and is a blast to play with friends (I really need to do the X-link Kai Method so that I can play with more people) but the difficulty sort of scared me away from it.

Still don't know why they'd make a Wii version...

I mean, I'm sure there are people like me who've had problems with this game, and like it was said above the controls are somewhat of a pain...so why would they make it for the Wii? As far as motion sensing goes the Wiimote does a pretty piss poor job...don't believe me then try playing Wii Golf for a while...you'll see what I mean.

uhh..

I didn't know I was supposed to be formal in here. Don't be a douche bag and stick to the topic on top.

Wii version also built from scratch, supposedly

Apparently, as it has been stated by the developers in an earlier Famitsu article, the Wii version will be built from the ground up as well. And this is a necessary thing, because the old engine that has been around since MH1 is becoming terribly outdated. However, anyone who's seen footage of the gameplay on TGS, knows that Capcom has been BS'ing the gaming community once again, since it's the exact same clunky and outdated build-up as the previous installments. The fact that the game still uses maps that are loaded through smaller areas (instead of loading just one big map, with the consequence that you can spot a monster from miles away, or can't run to the next area to hide from it), is the perfect example of this. Hopefully Capcom will use the profit they made from the Wii version to build the PS3 version from scratch with its supposed high development costs (which is BS anyway, because MH3 will bring in huge profits regardless of development costs).

yup

there could be... but when you say "monster hunter (insert series number here)", you think console. but if it's for the psp, it's "monster hunter freedom" or "monster hunter portable". there's a diff. i think this one's talking about THE next console iteration in the franchise.

Capcom just denied MH3 non-exclusivity

As stated on the official Capcom website, MH3 WILL be Wii-exclusive, in response to the confusion that has arisen due to the article: http://www.capcom.co.jp/monsterhunter/3/ There go our hopes yet again...

Hahaha speak for yourself! I'm more than happy with it going on the Wii only.
by houaruto - 2008-12-10 14:28:30
this game is great

people don't understand that when you are playing a 1 man hunt, the weapon makes a world of a difference....Some weapons are just naturally better for certain monsters depending on speed, attk power, ability 2 block.....this is the very basics of the game..........once u get through this it's easy.........I've beated every single quest by myself already with a Great Sword except for the fatalis variations
