Canadian Wii Launch Details |
Ó
As our American and Japanese friends have been celebrating the news of Wii's price and launch date, Canadians have been just standing off to the side a bit. Of course, Canada's information is almost exactly the same as the United States', but there were a few questions left unanswered. The most important of which is price!
Never fear, for Nintendo of Canada has released a press document outlining what we will be getting. The price for the Wii in Canada will be $279.95 plus tax. Wii games will sell for the same as they did last gen at $59.95 + tax. The Wii is actually cheaper than the price that the GameCube launched in Canada for! Back in November 2001, the GameCube launched at around $300 with a higher tax!
Virtual Console pricing structure "will be revealed in the coming weeks" they say but Reggie Fils-Aime, President at Nintendo, has already stated that $24 will equal to 2000 Wii Points. This means $6 per 500 Wii Points. The pricing for Wii accessories will hopefully come soon as well.
Other details mirror that of the American information. The box will contain exactly the same contents (including Wii Sports). There will be 30 games for the console by the end of the year. There will be 60 Virtual console games by the end of the year. It will launch on November 19th, just like the USA as well.
A note to our European friends, the conference in London should be starting in a few hours now. And the wonderful people in Australia should watch out for a TV announcement on Friday evening.
