The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) has been a resounding success, so which band will Harmonix and MTV Games be shining the spotlight on in the next Rock Band game? It's all fog and haze at this point, but according to guitarist Brian May we can now add Queen to the pool of candidates.

May recently told BBC News that there are negotiations "going on behind the scenes" for a dedicated Queen release in the Rock Band franchise. "Yes we're into it, I think it may happen," he said.

For the moment there's nothing definite yet, but Queen diehards can catch the legendary band in Lego Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS). "It's the ultimate accolade, to be portayed in Lego," said May. "My dreams are all fulfilled now."

» GO BRIAN MAY!!!!

I really really hate rock band with a passion, but I love Brian may's guitar solos when he was in queens.

» Hmmm

I love Queen, but a separate $200+ game for each great band is unnecessary. So tired of this music game crap

It's not like Queen had a hundred good songs anyway, just put their best songs up as DLC

by ISOHaven - 2009-10-13 14:15
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Who said you need to spend over $200 per game?

Beetles only cost $60 for PS3. Less if you shop for it.

You don't have to re-buy the instruments.

» @MasterCommoner

Like ISO already said, you can buy the games individually.

And Harmonix knows better than just making some half-assed "Greatest Hits DLC" for artists. They just release the entire album as DLC, because they know that NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE SAME SONGS.

You guys are actually defending this practice? You're cool with buying a new game for each band's songs when they could easily put the majority of the best songs up as single song downloads, or a couple of the best albums up as DLC for the game you already own?

I admit I totally forgot that they release the games on disc to work with the instruments people already own, but no one can deny that there are waaay too many of these games.

And lol @ "mastercommoner". Good one you tool

» @MasterCommoner

Correction: There are too many Guitar Heroes. I won't bother listing how many came out this year ALONE.

I never condoned them making a new band game every two seconds, kid. Like I said, not everyone likes the same songs to buy a pack that has the supposed best songs of a certain artist, when they can just buy individual albums and get all the songs.

Oh wait, Harmonix already DOES THAT. The least you can do is do a quick google search if you're gonna try to bash some series you've never even played.

Nice job calling me a "tool", which is on the top ten list of Most Over-used Garbage E-Insults list.

WOW

Only $60 for a track pack, what a deal!

Or better yet LEGO Queer umm I mean Queen! Release a NEW game for every band with a couple hits, then re-release a LEGO version!

Seriously, this is the dumbest trend in gaming since the onslaught of wii minigame collections.

by NarooN - 2009-10-13 21:57
» @Commoner 2

There's no such thing as "Lego Queen."

Queen is *IN* Lego Rock Band, alongside 60 billion other bands.

And yeah, some whiny 14-year old kid crying over the net will really change their minds about creating the games.

» haha

Keep calling people commoners, it just makes you look dumb.

I'm not a kid and have played Rock Band. Nice try tho

And like I said, they could also release individual Queen songs for download, along with a couple albums and a best of pack if people want all of it. Good job ignoring that. And I think my posts were pretty clear that I was talking about all music games, not just RB. Nice job missing that too.

I'd love to play some Queen songs but not if I have to shell out $50-60 for a new game.

IMO the only band that deserves its own game is Led Zeppelin, they didn't make a single bad song. I'd buy that in an instant

I certainly would prefer Queen Rock Band than Beatles. And moreso than the majority of songs on current versions of Rock Band come to think of it.

by ogremalfeitor - 2009-10-14 02:44
» Awesome

My wife is crazy about queen, and I'm not jealous of Freddy Mercury for two obvious reasons - he died, and most certainly he wouldn't be interested in her ;)

She's not really into videogames but I had to get her Singstar Queen when it came out. Not that I like singstar very much, but the first one I got was for PS2 and was a... wedding present, go figure XD

I like Rock Band since it is able to use the Singstar microphones, as well as Guitar Hero controllers (at least I can say that they work like a charm in Beatles RB).

Also, sometimes I prefer that they make a disc release dedicated to a band than to put songs in DLC. If you look for the disc on some online stores, after some time it gets much cheaper per song than if you buy them from the PSN store.

I'll definitely buy this if it comes out.

"Keep calling people commoners, it just makes you look dumb."

Besides that being a 1st-grade level cop-out, I don't need to get told this by some kid who is too lazy to type full words. You actually have to type "tho" instead of "though", which either means you're way too lazy or just stupid, but I'll just go with the latter.

I didn't ignore anything you said. Stop trying to be so deluded, because it's not cute. You can't say something like "ZomG I hatez all teh music gaemz" and then try to turn that statement around after I blow what you said out of the water.

No, you didn't play Rock Band. You didn't even know that HMX already releases individual tracks and albums as DLC. If you've played Rock Band and never went to the Music Store and see what's there, you've never played Rock Band. Going to the mall with your emo friends after you pass by Hot Topic doesn't count.

Yeah, you're a kid if you say we don't need band only games, then say "It'd be awesome for [band here] to have their own game looololol" and expect us to care about your opinion. You're just not important.

You're the kid at the back of the group screaming "Hai gaiz dont forget about mah!"

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

So let me get this straight.... these idiots would rather there be a DLC download for all the Beetles songs instead of a whole new game disc? I guess these idiots don't realize that the game itself changed with the Beetles release.

The same idiots would rather DLC all of Queens music instead of a new game disc? They do realize that in order to do that, at the current going rate for DLC songs, they would pay MORE MONEY on DLC then just buying a new RB game.

So these idiots would rather spend MORE money? Hum...yup...sounds like a bunch of idiots to me!

Same goes with Lego RB. 45 songs via DLC? Screw you morons!!! Quit trying to make me pay more!!!! What is it? $1.99 per song? Times 45 makes it $89.55....WHO THE F@CK wants that?

All these idiots realize that these news games are ONLY for the fans that WANT ALL THOSE SONGS. These new games aren't for people that only want a couple songs from within the game.

Don't like it, don't buy it.

Exactly. And the main difference between Harmonix band games and Neversoft band games is that HMX actually puts effort into theirs. Compare the presentation of TB:RB to GH: Aerosmith and you'll see what I mean.

I mean, GH:M and GH:A just had like 30-40 of the bands songs, most of which people didn't even like, and like 20-30 more from completely unrelated bands.

TB:RB was nothing *but* the Beatles.

» So..

You just admit that you would BUY a Led Zeppelin game if they did one.

That means that you are not against the idea itself of so many music games, but merely against the choice of content.

So given that you like Led Zeppelin, like other millions, there are quite as many that like the Queen and are happy to see the game released.

What can I tell you ? It's good to have a choice, if you don't like the game don't buy it , it's up to you, but stop criticize them for making it.

I personally like Elvis and 50's rockabilly music, and if they'd make a game with such a theme I'd buy it right away !

Now you admitted you would buy a Led Zeppeling game, you just give them a reason to keep making these games that you seem to despise soo much....you are mister contraddiction itself...ha ha ha .....

another post with everyone flameing...... good job guys... any ways i agree that pay 50-60 $$ per new band is not fair. DLC makes it so much easy for everyone
