Good news or bad news? Which do you want to hear first? Fine. Let's get the good news on. Starting December 7th, you Aussies can make your Wii have a higher quality and more vivid image through Nintendo's Wii Component Cable straight off retailers' shelves.
What's the catch? It's yours for $49.95. Pretty steep, eh? News is that it will be sold throughout retail outlets all over Australia, contrary to what was earlier believed that they would only be available through Nintendo Australia, much like the equivalent Nintendo GameCube accessory. While the accessibility sure is one good news, the pricing seems to dampen the excitement.
Anyway, there are no details yet regarding the related S-video or replacement AV Composite cables. So, just be sure to keep it posted here for updates.

$50 for some componenet cables?! How in the heck do they justify the price? How much do you think this is being up-marked just because of demand?
Are these Nintendo branded cables?
I'll wait for the competition to begin so i can get a fairer deal, but i am mad to wait.

Australians, much like Europeans, always get *****ed on by pricing in the video game market. As someone who kind of works in the industry, its a general rule of thumb that our wholesale price is US retail.
