Nintendo, major gaming company responsible for the Wii console - Image 1What if you want to get your hands on a game the whole world is raving about and you find yourself unable to get it at the local Wal-Mart? What would you feel? Frustrated? Annoyed? Short-changed? Well, all of these emotions come pretty close to what people from the South Pacific area are feeling right now.

"Knock it off, Nintendo!" These are the strong words relayed by Aaron Rex Davies and many gamers from New Zealand, Australia, and other countries in the South Pacific region. What's their beef with Ninty? Apparently, they have been extremely frustrated with the delayed release dates to many of Nintendo's in-demand Wii titles reaching their local shores.

In a formal letter addressed to Nintendo, Davies wrote a comprehensive nine-page report detailing various studies on the matter. In the report, it shows the massive difference between the release dates of similar Wii titles within the US and Australia (with the worst taking as long as seven months). Also, issues such as the age-old NTSC versus PAL compatibility, the release of games made by other third-party distributors, as well as the game availability alternative presented by modchips were discussed in minute detail.

All of these were addressed and circulated by Davies through various sources such as Digg and Aussie-Nintendo. His efforts have been met with a very receptive welcome by many gamers with the same sentiments.

This may give Nintendo the much needed eye-opener they need to focus their attention on their South Pacific market this time around. However, no response has been given by the gaming company so far. We'll make sure to keep everyone updated with any further news on the matter, however. A downloadable copy of Aaron Davies' report is available on his site.

They're not the only ones

I live in England. You have no idea how annoying it is waiting for the EU release of a game, just so the french and germans can get their version at the same time. There's no reason not to give us the same consoles and games as the rest of you (Americans). Even if we do have to settle for the raped version of our language in the games, I wouldn't care. It's like with Metroid Corruption. It's out in English, and the only reason I cant play it right now is so the rest of the EU can get it at the same time as us. (Being on holiday in Florida last week when it came out over there really didnt help me get over how annoying that is.) The PAL/NTSC argument doesn't hold any ground anymore anyway. No-one uses a TV that old that it cant support 60Hz.

Hold the F**K up!!!

Hey this is such BS. Don't get me wrong or anything but I have seen many games get an overseas release well before the US as well. Take Mario Strikers Charged it was released in so many countries well before America even got a release date scheduled. Also don't even get me started on the number of games that get released in other counties that never even see the light of day on American soil. Who cares if Metroid got an American Release first I say its about time we got a game before the rest of the world. If any body should complain it should be us always being second to Japan in release dates. No offense to those in the South Pacific but you are not one of the three major gaming markets so a wait would be fitting. Hell I don't even see what the big deal is. For the most part games get released in all markets within a month of each other except for a hand full of titles. Let's take MP3 for example. Yes this game got an American release first but that may be because Americans are bigger Metroid fans than the rest of the world. It's all about demographics. Just like Pokemon Battle Revolution got released in Japan over six months before the US and that is because Pokemon is from Japan and is more popular their. This is not because a company is against a certain region of the world it is all about getting the product to the larger fan base first.

No, Jeremy, you don't get it. You didn't get Strikers for what, a month? With Nintendo Australia's *****ing around, we wait at least six months, if we're lucky. It's usually much more. MP3 got pushed back to freaking November, God only knows when SSBB will come out. We only got the first Pheonix Wright three months ago. Nintendo's Australian division is by far the worst of the big three.

In fact, just a couple of articles below this one (http://wii.qj.net/Super-Mario-2-other-VC-titles-rated-in-Australia/pg/49/aid/101506), you can see we've gotten Harvest Moon Magical Melody rated. You yanks got this in MARCH LAST YEAR. Stop making it sound like you Americans never get games, because PAL Territories have it so much worse.
