This GameTrailers interview with the devs of Call of Duty 3 reveals a lot of details that makes the multifragfest feel like... Battlefield 1942. I'm sorry to have to make the comparison, but when David Vonderhaar talks about the new Class system they introduced to CoD3, about the specialized combat capabilities of each Class - yep, BF1942.

Of course Activision throws in a couple of innovations and changes here and there to differentiate this WWII shooter from that other WWII shooter. CoD3 Soldiers in each Class can Rank Up, and when they're promoted, they can carry more of their special ammo like rifle grenades, mines, arty strikes, etc. The Class system makes CoD3 even more team-centric than its predecessors, says the devs, which probably is one good benefit of "looking for inspiration elsewhere."

The devs reveal other details, especially on matchmaking and teaming up, which you can listen to simply by clicking the big Triangle button below. After that, there's another GameTrailers video, this time Activision's multiplayer features trailer for CoD3. Same as the GT interview, only less detailed, but this one offers a couple of tips you might find useful in your own multiplayer matches.

a big laggy during some of those scenes.. hope it doesnt act that way when it comes out

by nah - 2006-10-28 16:14
» forget it

this game just crashed and burned for me. The multiplayer looks like a ripoff of Team Fortress and Battle Field. I wish they would've just stuck to the call of duty 2 type of multiplayer. Oh well, atleast we still have that.

why is that bad? team fortress and battlefield are both great games. a ripoff it may be. but it doesnt take away from the fun factor.

and I bet you don't play Halo because it's a ripoff of Wolfenstein and Doom huh? since when does copying a great game make it worse?

by big jo - 2006-10-29 04:19
» blah

ye cause there was a giant ring world and spartans and a battle between two alien species in doom and wolfenstein wasnt there?? just cause halo is a first person why does that mean it copied any other fps.

however this is different this is 2 fps' set in the same timezone with similar features and no news of any originality

by Shatterdome - 2006-10-29 09:15
» Then Halo copied half-life....

He was complaining about gameplay elements being the same, nothing about story....so yeah all FPS are rip-off's of FPS's in the past.

There's only so much you can do in an FPS, and really I welcome to ability to level up my actual in game player, sounds cool. Sure other games have done it, but some people done play every FPS that is released to market, some of us are more discerning and honestly I probably won't even get this game. I'll be too busy with GOW untill Halo 3 or UT or maaaybe HL2 comes out (have it on PC already).....
