Arcadelicious: prototype Wii joystick |

Now this is a nice prototype for arcade action! Someone decided to make a joystick that he could use on his two Nintendo consoles, the GameCube and Wii, and apparently, it actually works! The device uses his GameCube controller port and the arcade controller mod does its job admirably. While it isn't a Wiimote or a classic controller, the creator says it works fine:
I took a spin with Fire Emblem, Capcom vs SNK 2 and Ikaruga for Gamecube (played on my Wii) and then two virtual console titles, Wario Wareand Solomon's Key. I have to say, it's absofreakinglutely awesome, too bad none of you can use it.
None of us can use it?! Well, not yet. Maybe he's thinking if he should show people how he made it.
Of course, we can't help but wonder about the project. This unnamed gamer and his relatively new blog are definitely cool for rigging this thing up, but we wish we had more info, other than a picture though. How did he make it? Where are his schematics? Is it a remapping of an existing controller?
In the world of MMOs, there's a saying: "Screenshots, or it never happened." While it's an exciting gadget for its potential, we hope the creator would make a video that definitively shows the joystick controlling some Wii games.
Once proof comes in though, we only have one question left to ask: does it have motion sensing functions too?

Speaking of which, I really hope the Wii has a lot of fighting games. One of the biggest problems I had to switching to Nintendo after staying with Sony is that I'm an avid fighting game fan. SC, Tekken, Street Fighter, KOF, you name it; I'm a fan of all those games and attempt to play some competitively at arcades. Playing at home though gives me the benefit of practising without wasting quarters. Ofcourse Nintendo has Smash Bros. which is always fun but I would really like to see the Wii have more fighting games, and it's not like fighting games require powerhouse engines to run them console-wise.
