And the Consumer Design of the Year award goes to...Wii! |
Ó
Electronic Design magazine has released its annual Best Electronic Design issue. What's exciting about this? Well, just the fact that Nintendo won Consumer Design of the Year award for the Wii.Now, while some might say that this award holds little, or no water, as to the ongoing consoles war, it still speaks a lot for the console if a bunch of technology-critics sit down together, getting all through the list of nominees for various awards submitted by their readers, just so they could have an official verdict as to the who's who in the electronics business for the year 2006.
Editor-in-Chief Mark David says, "The 'Best Electronic Design' issue highlights some of the technologies most significant to advancing electronic design, and it also gives us the opportunity to honor some of the outstanding end-product designs produced in the last year."
Hmm...not bad, indeed, for a console that's been out barely for a month. Let's keep a lookout for what ever other goodies the Wii may bag.

And the controller design would have changed somehow if the console had been out for a year, instead of a month? No, that's simply something stupid that sounded halfway smart to say. Too bad it wasn't.
The poster is just saying that the Wii has impressed them enough in just the first month of its life to get on an anual list. Not saying it's going to change later, just that its popularity is definitely showing already.
