Micorosoft's Xbox 360 - Image 1The Nintendo Wii is expected by many to continue its dominance over 2007's holiday season, but Janco Partners' Mike Hickey disagrees. He believes that the Microsoft Xbox 360 just might steal the show in the season of giving.

Lower price points, improved reliability, and killer titles like Halo 3 and BioShock could all come together and turn the holidays more hardcore game-oriented. Hardware and killer software scarcity during the 2007 holidays might also hurt the Nintendo Wii, according to Hickey. He mentions that "a market shift toward core gamer platforms (Microsoft Xbox 360/ Sony PS3) and a potential Sony PS3 price cut (November) should benefit ERTS this holiday."

Moving on to other gaming industry matters, Hickey also expressed some concern over BioWare/Pandemic's upcoming projects under their Electronic Arts acquisition deal. He comments:

We are cautiously optimistic over their recent acquisition of BioWare/Pandemic development studios, although considerably less positive on the Bio-Pan IRR potential despite speculation BioWare's unannounced MMO will be a Star Wars licensed release.

The analyst pointed out that though the MMO sector of gaming is a booming one, BioWare may be entering uncharted territories here. He says that there's no doubt that the developers of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights are RPG experts, but it remains to be seen how they will fare in a totally different type of effort.

Nintendo Wii is going to be sold out all Christmas. Once Mario Galaxy hits, the system will be impossible to find. Xbox 360 will sell the most software, and Sony will sell the most Blu-Ray players.

» yeah!

And ps3 fanboys will keep on dreaming while the rest of us keep on gaming. Don't give up hope!

» kewl

good 4 m$ this would only means Sony will lose a few more exclusives & m$ will gain sum kinda

» quite possible

Many gamers have to start somewhere and the wii is for many a good starting point. For those with money and family members that already possess the wii the 360 or PS3 become the next step. Although the PS3 technically may be slightly superior its in a very dry period with regards to games. Essentially any console is bought for the purpose of gaming and right now 360 does have the upper hand even with a lower user base. Its a big market and games developers need a fast return on released games as the costs of production are high. This in my opinion is also a problem for the PS3 right now as the technocrats will continually spout that the PS3 has better graphics. The big problem here is that they can not afford to release a game where it graphically does not create a wow factor otherwise they will look rather stupid.

» yep

but Sony can't prove the ps3 has better graphics because it doesn't n if Sony don't release game that prove that it won't cuz the 360 n ps3 have the same graphics so it's kinda a waste n sony lied think about it only Sony.Sony devs,IBM and sony fanboys said the ps3 was so much better GRAPHICALLY

which it isn't n ps3 fanboys will believe this 4 years untill 2009-2011 when games are still the same GRAPHICALLY but I

see the 360 overpowering the Wii the xmas with another price drop

» Wake up!!!

Halo is histrory it can no longer hold the 360 on its shoulders!!!Its old news already!! because unfortunatly for you the 360 was basicaly only about one game. So with only 100 bucks difference now and an imminent price cut further decreasing difference along with the upcoming releases soon you will try to hide but guess what a hiding spot will be nowhere to be found, so start digging up!!!

» umm

Have you had your head in a hole for the past 5 months? Don't you have any idea of all the great 360 games coming out BEFORE christmas? I for one had more fun with bioshock than halo. It's not about halo anymore it's about having the most and best games on one system. You can have your blueray DVD's and i'll have my great games. The Wii owners are also having a blast playing games on their system and the ps3 owners are.... well they are still posting on fanboy sites about the great hope.

Actually i have and it emphasizes my point. Anything less than the games you mentioned will make Sony look stupid. So far the PS3 games may have had issues with story or content but all agree they do look good.

» how would you know they have good graphics

MGS4 has not even came out yet and the clip are not even real game play so you PS3 fanboys need to shut up

you know u cant make games with superb graphics overnight. and people say the ps3 is better graphically because its...TRUE! The PS3 doesnt have a 7-SPU Cell processor for nothing. I find it amazing that people like you manage to ignore evidence sitting right in front of your face.
